For Gameplay - Alone in the Dark.
For Scarry-ness? - Silent Hill 5

Hrmm I would probably agree for the most part... I just hope the controls and game style improves on this Silent Hill because I never really got into one before just because of it... confusing controls and all...
But both of them look good so I have a hard time deciding at this point in tie for one over the other...
I'm a very big fan of Silent Hill, I have all four previous installations, but after watching the latest video footage of SH5 I'm quite disappointed..
The same can be said about Alone In the Dark, but at least Alone has some interesting gameplay to look forward to..
I don't know what is happening with the survival horror genre but both of this games in past were the true definition of it and I'm not pleased with how shallow both newest installations are.
Unless they improve (not visually), very sadly I'll have to rent both.. On the other hand Siren seems to be shaping nicely and it's doing exactly whay Silent Hill did for years. I'm still confident Resident Evil 5 will deliver, but I have been keeping track of both Alone In The Dark and especially Silent Hill 5 and they both look shallow to me.. Keep in mind that I grew up on both of those survival games and I know very well how great they are.
I'll wait for more footage to see how things unfold. Either the developers are really just money grabbing now and don't wish to develop properly, or this whole multiplatforming is starting to show the laziness..
After watching a few gameplay videos nowof Slent Hill 5 it looks like the game mechanics and camera have improved... and the gameplay itself... However as I watched them I always just feel like something is missing from the environment... but thats just me... I guess I wish I could put my own twist or spin into the game for myself...
Alone in the Dark still looks pretty cool too but I'm not sure just yet...
I'll probably get both if they get fairly good reviews... I want some horror games
I'm a SH fan and not so much for AitD...
Having said that, I'll be getting both (which speaks really good about AitD)
