exactly. Seems to be the story with a lot of ps3's that have ylod. You temp fix it and sell it before it has time to fail again.alot of shady kids trade in there semi broken systems at EB Games/ GameStop..so those would be the last places i would buy my second hand consoles.

Yeah, I would bite the bullet, wait a bit longer, save up some extra $$$ and get a new slim line model. It's the smartest decision.
I was wondering if i bought a preowned 80 gig ps3 (because thats all i can afford) would it fail on me?.deawsomekurtIf you can spring for a new one, I highly recommend it. There is a chance, and it definitely doesn't happen to everyone, that your system will fail somehow and you'll be caught in a chain of Sony sending you refurbished systems and those systems breaking down. And if breaks down after the warranty, you're out 150 bucks. In the long run, it's a much better investment buying a new one.
It probably won't, although i wouldn't recommend buying hardware second hand.mysterjThis. When it comes to electronics, I prefer new. However, it's easy to understand limited funds, and PS3's are usually very reliable, so you should be alright. Where are you getting it from?
no...hell no... **** no. i bought a refurb ps3 fatfor 220 and within 3 months the fan constantly was running and it was just acting up. game stop offered me 200 trade in credit twoards a new slim.. my advice would be to stay away from those refurbs
I would never buy hardware like a PS3 second hand, especially ones without a warranty. Believe me, by the time it breaks you'll have spent more buying one second hand and repairing it than buying a new one altogether. Though this is probably different for other people, my PS3 broke twice within 2 years which included my warranty, thankfully.
