I'm gonna give you a hint. If you've YLOD'd twice and you may have just gotten a third...SOMETHING is wrong in your setup. I have a LAUNCH 60 gig that stays on nearly 24/7 with no problems at all.

The holes on the backside and the right hand side of the console NEED TO BE COMPLETELY CLEAR AND HAVE ABOUT 6 INCHES OF CLEARANCE. If not, this is causing your YLOD's.

I agree with the previous poster..... I've had my PS3 forever and the only thing that has happened to it is the WiFi stopped working, though it still works by running an ethernet cable to my router.

Anyway, I'm not sure if you will be getting a YLOD, as I've never got one myself, but from the situation you describe, it definitely doesn't sound good.

if youre gettin a flashin red light youre motherboards solder is came loose. my launch 60 gb started shuttin down and flashin a red light . i had to have the motherboard heatgunned! it only worked for a month after that and died again. my best friend is a ps3 repairman and said the flashin red light is more severe than ylod. i would back up all my files quick or buya slim then do a data transfer. i wouldnt even turn on my ps3 anymore. tell you can data transfer because its hard to transfer if you cant access youre xmb.

I got a YLOD and now I have simi-fixed it myself (very easy and nothing special reqiured) If you need any explanation just ask ;) If you got an overheating, your processor is getting very hot and may affect your ps3's motherboard If you got a YLOD, that means your ps3's motherboard is affected by the super hot processor and your ps3's motherboard got some fragments that caused the connection between them to cut!

Just an FYI, because my 60GB PS3 just YLOD'd yesterday myself. Backups are useless if you have to get a new machine. A lot of the data will not transfer back onto your new PS3, because of copy protected games saves, downloads, etc. I bought a slim yesterday and did this. I back my PS3 up monthly and I was SOL on a lot of my game saves. I had to resurrect my old PS3 and deactivate it then perform a data transfer between the two PS3's using ethernet cables. It worked and my old 60GB is up an running, but I don't know for how long.

Sorry but youmight get the YLOD, ive had it 3 times, i've just got it today and the blinking red lights are called RED Light of death, i could fix it again, but i really can't be bothered with the ps3 again. And like other people who have posted its a launch 60gb upgraded to a 320gb HDD. the red lights are basically signs that the system is overheating and possibly a sign that you will get the YLOD. well for me thats the story anyway.

You could , like other people have said - keep the system from overheating like avoiding putting it in a corner and away from any other electrical appliances e.g a dvd player or an xbox - there are plenty of guides on how to keep it cool on the net.
