I don't "hate" them. But they do grow old and stale. Especially when FPS games are all you seem to see and they don't last very long. They only seem to be good at first. If you don't like it, you don't like. That's it. I can't get into Zelda games for the life of me. I've even tried (only when extremely bored and nothing else to play at the moment). I've never liked Zelda since the NES days and I've pretty much played them all for maybe 5 minutes lol
I dont hate them i just hate the fact there so many this Gen. The problem is that FPS are way to generic. Its hard to tell wats different about halo and Killzone . seriously your doing the same thing in both those games; shooting things...yea it gets stale very quick(and they say RPG's are generic pfft lol) thats why im only going to stick with games like COD and halo and not waste my money on anything else.
To each his own, no questions asked. I'm not here to instigate, but like many people already said, PS3 has way too many 1st person shooters. I mean, yeah, the more games, the better, but I wish there would be more action-adventure games too.i guess its what you like in a game, i personally like FPSs...

Seriously, no matter what I can never like them, I tried Halo on my brother's Xbox 360, tried out Killzone 2, Call of Duty.. and I still absolute cannot stand them AT ALL. The last and only first shooters game was probably Golden Eye 007 on N64. I just hope I'm not the only one, especially since all the recent hype has been over FPS. I mean come on, let's hope that's not the future of PS3 games.. EDIT: Okay maybe "hate" is too strong. What I meant was really, really dislike, or, simply, cannot stand at all. yazterHow can you not like KZ 2 it boggles my mind.... but what ev.
I don't like them either. I've given all the big ones a try, and while I can see the quality in games like Killzone 2 and COD4, I can never really get into them.
I used to hate FPS...but when i entered the PS3 Gen..I saw them with shiny upgraded graphics and I saw Resistance...It attracted me...thats how i love FPS games lol

Not everybody has to like a game because it's name is known. I don't want KZ2 either.
I do not technically "Hate" FPS Games. I just want FPS games that have more variety you know.. Not just go from point A to point B completing objectives and just shooting. That gets really dull after a while.nobodyliveA lot of those games are ending up that way. That's why I sold every FPS game I've bought.
i like the genre a lot, but i'm a very harsh critic of the actual fps games. As a result, i only have a few FPS games that i spend my time on; but those are the select few fps games i love. Even after saying that, i realize that the FPS is a saturated genre, and i do wish that this trend will slowdown in the near future. This is an era where the devs' general idea is that any fps, regardless of technical quality or enjoyability, will sell as long as there's demand; maybe there isn't even any demand to begin with, but they push their games anyway, hoping, to what is seemingly, a quick buck.
hmph, before i get sidetracked any further, i'm sure you're not the only one who dislikes fps games, TC; however, i think that if an fps is done right, mindless or not, it could be very enjoyable.
but, i like you, do not want this gen to be the "FPS gen," even though, it is probably a little too late for wishful thinking...
I grew up as a Quake 2/3 and UT99 player so those skillful FPS are my favorite of the genre. My favorite genre is action/adventure and 3D platformers however. These games seem to never get old.
i don't like them except for fallout 3 and postal 2. i was raised on 2d shooters ,beat em ups and platformers. i prefer to be right in your face when i kill you. i prefer close range weapons than long ranged ones. i had a friend who though was crazy for not having a whole lot of fpss. i like run and gun shooters. i love the metal slug series, gunstar heroes, midnight resistance. i just don't like fpss. Finally, someone who's with me. Hehehe.
I also can't seem to get into FPS. No matter what FPS game I try, they just.....suck.

Okay perhaps I went overboard in terms of generalization, and I do stand corrected, but in all honestly I look at my friends online on my PS3 list and they're mostly playing a FPS.. yazter
So what? To each their own! You don't have to like the genre. The world is big enough for those who don't like shooters and those who love them (like me).
Yeah you're alone. I love them. What I hate are racing "simulators" like Gran Turismo. But I do hate crappy shooters...
as a matter of fact, i myself hated fps at a certain time in my life, but i learned to get used to the fact that it is a completely different and whole genre in gaming, so hating fps is like hating platformers or rpgs, so the way i see it is... "if you don't like the genre, just don't play it and stop complaining"
now that i have actually played them, i like some them, like far cry 2, bioshock, half life 2 one of my favorites, LMAO now that i thik of it, 85% of the games i own are fps lol
I actually kind of hate them some while ago, in fact, the past gen, the only FPS that i touch, it was Time Splitter 2 on the GC, and only for the multiplayer, i also play (and love) Metroid Prime, but is not really a FPS, anyway, this gen i've been playing more and more FPS thanks to the great Orange Box and Crysis, i still dont like them, but i dont hate them, in fact, if the game is good (Portal, Half Life) i'll play them happy.
