Final Fantasy Tactics: The War Of The Lions?

People say it has the best story ever, and it's the best game on the PSP.

The first hour I basically didn't play at all, I only move one character and then wait an hour while the other dudes move.
So I finally get the chance to control everyone, except for 2 dudes who decided to stick around. I go to the next battle where enemys come from the front, and an archer stands on a hill. The A.I. went after the Archer, so I went for the other dudes. The A.I. reached the archer, hit him once, and then turned around and came back to me. THAT IS BAD A.I., that made me lose the fight because all the characters could move 2 squares per round and I just couldn't reach the archer.

I'm not seeing the awesome story potential in this at all.

The dialogue is like:

Dude1: "Duke Gwhartenyurshofferyuckypie, why thy is here tonight? thy mother send me her notes about the war, that is horrible. Thy "word" thy "word" thy "word"?"
Dude2: "Why yes, thy random gibberish thy word thy thy thy...

YAWN, It wont get anywhere.

This is coming from a guy who loves the Metal gear games, one would say that the Metal Gear game's tempo is slower.
Don't say that it just isn't my kind of a game, I am a avid player of the online game Tactics Arena on the PC, which is basically the same thing gameplay-wise.

I gave this game a chance, heck 3 chances.

At what point will the thing pick up? Will the things pick up at all? I've been searching for a while for a long game with a great story, I should probably. stick with Brave Story for now-

yeah ive never played it, but when I researched it and looked at pictures/Gameplay; I found that it wasn't very intresting to my taste of RPG. I usually and still do, play FF 1 and 2 on the PsP which are pretty good, but no havent tryed it and probably never will.

Its just the old ps1 game reworked for the psp. Not much else to it so if you didn't like that one you wouldn't like this one.

Lol, I haven't heard a single person say that

But the best game on PSP is easily SOCOM FireTeam Bravo 2 for me :)

I don't see how you can fault a game for doing what it has been doing for quite a number of years. I don't believe it is the best game ever, nor does it have the best storyline but I do believe it has one of the better storylines of the FF Tactics series (crossing all systems). The dialogue may be old-fashioned, but at least it isn't Two Worlds dialogue. Also, just because it plays on a grid and is turn based doesn't mean it can be compared to other games of the same nature. Jeanne D'Arc (PSP) is one example. If you didn't like it, that's your opinion and thats cool.

Making the connection from FFT to MGS is a pretty weak one (when talking about speed of gameplay) IMO. With the exception of the ACiD series, I found that the MGS games went along at a faster pace than FFT, simply because of the different nature of each series.

Other than final fantasy 13, i nt going into any rpg games, long and tedious games that takes much longer time to play are not going to interest me at all.

Go level up first by fighting against yourself and then go back to the main mission.

So far, The War of the Lions is my favorite PSP game. I've only played a handful of other games (God of War, GTA: Liberty City Stories, Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror). I only play PSP for short amounts of time at a time (short car trip, etc.), so powering up the PSP for a single battle is perfect. I can deal with midieval dialogue as long as the gameplay's solid, which it is.

No it doesn't have the most compelling story or the flashy graphics, but imo in-terms of gameplay it wrecks any other SRPG. So many ways to customize your team, different jobs, weapons, honestly you can spend hundreds just in meaningless battles just to up-grade and change up your team. That being said, it isn't for everyone, you definatley need tons of patience. I will say i prefered FFTA(GBA) over FFT on the psp, but I would still rank the game in my top 3 on the psp. Once again, it is just my opinion.

You're not alone i hate FFT too, all of them, also Jeanne D arc

On the other hand I love Disgaea, the gameplay is faster (you don't need to rotate your character), and the story is great and full of sarcasm

Brave story is IMO the best RPG for the PSP, maybe the only real one

FFT was great during the PS1 era. But now, it simply loses to Disgaea , i found FFT on the PSP slow and boring, not to mention the same old **** storyline. Disgaea wins hands down in term of Battle Speed and System. It takes quite some time to move FFT's characters around and it simply pisses me off as time goes by.

Yeah for me, FFT is a good game but not after the release of Disgaea, which is much better in every aspects.

Ur not alone. For me, FFT was totally revolting. I gave it 4 chances. And they blew up on me. Sold it already. Bah.

Best game ever? Definitely not FFT. Monster Hunter 2 is a better candidate.

It's because you either hate Japanese strategy games or you never played this game during the PS1 days.

Usually the people who love the FF Tactics series are the same group who loved it for the original PS1.

I wasn't pointing you out specifically, just saying in general.

But there you go. You fall in the category of never having played the PS1 version. You might have loved it if you played it back then.

I hate FFT as well. the character designs are horrible. its increadibly boring and cheap at times.

I like the main FF series(and cc prequel) so i thought this spin-off would be good.

i learned my lesson.

No, I hate it as well. I never even thought the game looked fun, but I gave in to the hype and bought it. I couldn't force myself to stay awake for the first few hours of READING EVERYTHING. The only thing I really enjoyed were the cutscenes. Shame I only got to watch two.

It's one of my better-liked PSP titles, but I'm not so sure about the best. I like it for the insanely deep job and ability system. The story is a bunch of convulted gibberish, though.
