personally i think heavenly sword will be the best game on the ps3 until killzone and mgs4. i loved the demo. i have probably played the demo atleast fifty times. but i guess it just depends on what type of games you like. i thought NGS was really boring.bazookajoe19
I was about to type something just like that, its not everyone's game but the demo was to short to give you an idea how deep the combat system is. Just take a look at the combo list and play through it a few times and if you still aren't hook then guess what ? Not your kind of game :P
You're not the only one not excited for it. My main problem is how slow the game is. Yeah I know what you're thinking "how is this fast paced action game slow?" Go out and play god of war 1 or 2 or even ninja gaiden *sigma, black, or original*. Look at how fast the speed of the game and how smooth the framerate is. Heavenly sword is much slower compared to those 2. Yeah, i find myself going back to the demo many times, but only because of the AI do I. Normally gameplay > graphics, but a sluggish framerate tampers with gameplay. Most people don't even care about the framerate, but I have eyes to see the game with. 1up said the framerate is a bit higher, but if its not 60fps locked, I'll be playing other fall games. The demo rarely stayed at 30fps, not alone double that.
Though if a person can get over that, I believe a person could be enjoying the game. 30fps works in a shooter since its not exactly the most precise thing ever, but in a game where counterattacks are somewhat important? You really need 60fps to be completely precise. The presentation is as good as god of war, though that music in the demo sounded like something you'd find in a crazy pron movie. I'm predicting 7.5-8.5.
the game is boring if you just go through it button mashing-style. But once you look up the combo's and actually think about what you're going to do, the animations are really impressive and you feel happy that you've managed to get them done. Though after this demo, which was stupidly short, I have no intrest yet to buy the game. The parts that resemble god of war and RE4 style 'push button shown on screen' is getting old, and the way HS handles this technique is just...repetitive. They need to create something new and refreshing on that aspect.
and for **sakes make her jump...the girl can jump and fly into the air when you're fighting bad guys all over the place, but she can't jump on her own? oh really...
If they can make a game that makes you wanna go say: holy crap, what's going on? It's craaaazy!!!, then I'll buy it.
Now it's good, but not crazy enough yet
I played the demo and i really wasn't impressed. After playing *equips flame shield* hardcore, and awesome, 3rd person action games (NGS and DMC3 [original, not the toned down SE]) it just seemed kinda "ho-hum I've done this before". The part where the main character runs down the ropes reminded me of RE4 with the timed button presses. It just seemed like it wasn't really anything that I, and I said I, find really original. Ok, i get that there are alot of combos and grab animations but i didn't really think that is enough to justify spending the $60 bucks. My prediction for the score: 7.5InfinityTomorro
