I don't know about yall, I was reading about the new Nintendo DS having rumble feature, and they seem to make a big out of the rumble. I don't know about yall, but I always turn the rumble feature off on my Playstation 3. I find the controller vibrating in my hand to be real annoying. What about yall?

Really? I'd hate that more, because then it gets really noisy when it bangs against the desk.

I was recharging my six axis and playing NBA 2K10 with my duelshock. I'm at the freethrow line and I start getting rumble. Why? Glad my six axis is now charged.

He's taking about the NINTENDO DS, as in the hand held. I personally like it, it adds some depth to the gameplay when done right imo.

I love it. It can be overdone if a developer doesn't use it properly, but it's yet another sense they can pull into the game. Sight, sound, and touch (you could consider a controller itself as touch, but it's not two-way without rumble). And I don't ever want taste or smell in my games. But yeah, games feel naked without it, and I didn't buy a PS3 until they started bundling the Dual Shock 3 with the console. I still facepalm when I remember their original announcement about the Sixaxis and how they couldn't engineer it to work with rumble. Way to jump back to the 16 bit generation.

Well I only hate it when I leave it on the table during a cutscene in order to do anything then it rumbles and falls :(

I hate rumble too, I always have it off. It's a pointless innovation and can be distracting. I don't like trying to aim at my enemy while my controller is having a god damn heart attack. And if I put the controller on the table while watching a cutscene, it'll bounce around making and annoying rattling noise when something like an explosion happens.

LOL, no. I been playing since 1992 when the SNES came out, and I know the rumble thingy started with the N64 when the Starfox game came out with that big A$5 ugly rumble pack, so I know the rumble feature ain't new. I was just thinking about the rumble thing how much I don't like it and thought of making a forum, lol.

Yeah, some games overdo it at certain parts. I had to turn off rumble because my controller's battery was being drained and it was so annoying when I ride the train tracks in it. Maybe that's just me, though. I still have my rumble off and don't really care about switching it back on, even though it can add to games if done right,

I mostly dislike rumble. And was surprised so many wanted one when the PS3 first came out. I was like, you seriously would rather not play games at all!!! if there was no rumble? Seriously? :P I tend to forget to turn rumble off nowadays. But when it's really noticeable, I try to turn it off in game. I prefer turning it off in game rather than at the ps3 menu. I'd at least like to think there will be some games which use it well. I'm playing GoW Collections currently, and I want to turn it off now. Wonder if there is an option in game or not.

No-I hated when i bought my 60Gb launch model that had the sixasis without rumble-It was like a guitar without strings-Something sure was missing?

I always find the rumble brings added in game reality especially with shooters and driving games.

i love the rumble / force feedback / whatever you call it feature, i prefer it since i can feel that my character has been hit, making me more aware of a certain situation... and in some games (like bf: bc) you can feel the tanks rolling by (in close vicinity of course) and it makes you more alert... as someone already mentioned it is adding one more sense to the player's arsenal, which is always welcome... if you do not like it, it is ok as well, there are some downsides as well, you may be shooting more accurate with it, you do not have that wtf moment when ambushed, etc. etc....

On my PS2, I recently bought a wireless controller. Turning the rumble feature on uses up the batteries much faster, so I leave it off. I don't miss it one bit. I never did care for it really. The only time I thought it was kind of cool was in Gran Turismo 4, when I was driving a highly modified front wheel drive car and you could could feel the front tires fighting for traction all the way around the track. Other than that, in most games it just vibrates during exciting situations. I suppose if it's well done, it might add to your immersion in the game by about 1%. But as often as not it's not well done, and it's just mildly distracting.

I'd feel like something was missing from the thrill of the game if I didn't have the rumble feature. With it I feel like I'm a part of the game more than without it. What's a huge explosion without the rumble feature?

I like the lightweight feel of the sixaxis. It's less tiresome on my hands after a few hours of play. Plus rumble always distracts me. My brain is focusing on the controller having a seizure and my eyes are focusing on where the heck that guy is that shot a rocket at me.

+10 I remember ripping it off my first DS1 in the PS1 days, the thing totally ruined my gaming pleasure, can't find a game where it brought any sense of immersion, it's totally overrated, I feel sad for the good moeny invested in creating it and producing it
