Am I the only one who thinks the PS3 is too expensive here in Canada?

Seriously, the darn thing costs 799 CAD, the retail price at Best Buy in the states is 599. The currency exchange would only put the PS3 at about 650 CAD for the 60 GB model, right now 599 USD = 635 CAD. This isnt an attempt to bash the PS3 because I want one and will get one in the near future, I just feel that Canadians and probably the rest of the world are getting ripped off for a console that costs a lot less in the US even though our dollar is worth about 94 cents for every US dollar, things should logically be a lot cheaper. I will be buying a PS3 when stores decide to sell the thing for less then 700 dollars CAD, I would pay 650-680 for it but nothing more.

Anyone else feel the same?

At least the price got dropped, however with our dollar sitting at 94 cents, 650 would be much better as well and I would certainly not hesitate to pick one up. I might wait until October though when I have a better job before doing so, plus there will be even more games for me to pick up.

Ouch, ours is 13% though which is still high, unless you live in Alberta where there is no provincial sales tax.

I'd like to know why the price is still 699. When I bougt mine for 650 the dollar was around 91 cents. I guess it depends on what the stores paid for them or maybe they're trying to gouge consumers.

Agree, especially for what you get in the package. Plus with the 1.80 update its an awesome dvd upscaler and now I can stream media from my PC to the PS3.:D

Where the hell do you live? I live in Quebec and I paid my PS3 659$. That's the price it is everywhere. For a while, Best Buy had it at 699$, but EB Games and Microplay were still selling it at 659$.deadkingdg

Same here. I'm in Ontario, EB, Walmart ect sell at 649. I bought mine at the end of Feb, and it was 649. Just cause FUTURESHOP/BEST BUY are selling at 699, doesn't mean all the stores are. Yeah, we've been having that problem a lot lately. Our government is pretty much a joke right now, and they spend on useless things like drunken sailors, mainly on themselves.

In ontario I pay 14% tax. a PS3 for me would cost me with tax: 751 smakeroos.

Not that I'm aware of. I think it goes more of the way of the exchange rate, and the taxes we pay, and profit. Considering for instance, Australia is closer to Japan than we are and PS3 there is well over a thousand.

Dude the Price is $660 here in canada!!! Its $700 at bestbuy because it includes F1.

Ok well I have looked around and it isnt 650. 699 at Best Buy and Futureshop at the moment, so hopefully if it goes on sale or there is a bundle offered for that price, I will buy it.
