Well it was expected if you played RE5. It's on that line of gameplay I guess, I like that they made some new additions to make the game smoother and faster for the new players in the RE franchise.
But again I'm more a RE1/RE2/RE3/RECV type of fan myself so I don't really know what to tell you at this point besides that if it was my decision I would have made all sequels look like RECV with some graphical improvments that's all. But that's me.
To me, it almost looked more like a movie than a game. There were a few shooting segments, but most of what they showed were action sequences where you just have to press a button when prompted. I'm not sure if this is representative of the whole game, or if they just chose a really cinematic part of the game to show off for the press conference. Either way, I'm waiting on the reviews to come in before making a final decision about this one.
I admit it doesn't look quite as good as Resident Evil 5, but I think it looks good and worth purchasing on day 1 (for me anyway). The graphics and gunplay don't seem as good as they were in RE5, which is odd because it should be surpassing it in both of those areas. :|
It's going to be comparable with RE5, in terms of action and more gore horror than psychological horror. We still don't know what it'll bring. I'm sure there will be plenty of good gunplay and stuff perhaps better than RE5.
I def look to getting a pre-order on this, and hopefully a collector's edition.
Oh-LAWDY, it looks TERRIBLE... From the cliche glitzy Hollywood sheen to the action-based game play... Just awful. And that scene where Leon & Chris are having the John Woo stand-off (Again - We've seen that handguns-crossed stand-off in HOW MANY films since Woo originated it???) is so completely homoerotic that I really expected them to kiss. No kidding.
I'll do the same thing I did with RE5: Wait a few years until they've milked all the on-disc-DLC out of the fools who pony full price, put out a "Gold Edition" with all of the DLC unlocked, wait for the price to fall below $10... THEN I'll buy a copy and play it.
FU-All-Day, CAPCOM. You suck like a Hoover vacuum with a broken switch.
I'd actually nominate that gameplay demo as the worst on stage demo at E3 this year. This game looks utterly terrible. If the gameplay is consistently the way it was shown in that footage there's no way it deserves more than a 5/10 rating from the critics. There was like less than 30 seconds of actual gameplay in that 4 minute demo
