I went to a store where various items are donated for sale (electronics, furniture, etc.). Anyway, I am used to seeing old systems in there for sell like Gamecubes, N64, Genesis, etc. But inside the glass case was.......a PS3!!! Not only that, I saw the price tag with what looked like $39! I figured they probably meant $139 and would be quick to tell me that, but it was correct. I asked if I could hook it up to test it and they let me. It came on fine with no YLOD, but the screen was black. They probably sold it for so low b/c they thought it didn't work. They only had old tvs on display for testing. I thought, you know, maybe the owner had it set to HDMI. I would have bought it regardless. I took it home, and yes, that was the issue. It was set to HDMI. It plays blu rays perfectly. So, I got a 60gb PS3 (backwards compatible) that was well taken care of for $39! You can't even get a PS3 game or controller for that price. I don't know whether to keep it or sell it since I already have the second 80gb version PS3. I am a packrat though and I love the PS3. Having to deal with a possible YLOD or Drive problem on this 60gb are the 2 things that make me want to sell it before it happens.

i seen someone today walkout with a PS3 from Dave & Busters, they must've saved up a lot of tickets for that (which all in all, they must've wasted a lot of money playing all those games to get that many tickets), good luck walking out of the mall with that in ur hand, lol

Epic! Well done dude. If you don't want the BC of the 60gb I would say sell it on ebay.

Just sell it along with all your games to Gamestop, that store rocks.

Ebay might be a good option. Money is nice. I will be needing it for Castlevania (PS3). It's amazing the condition this PS3 is in. Systems sold at this place are usually pretty rough. I also got a very rare Wavebird for $5. Once you go wireless....it's hard to go back.

Don't worry, I'm just a huge fan of the series (as you can tell from my name :P )

EDIT: Haha, you changed the title

I have the Sony Credit card and got my PS3 with the points I had, it was more than I wanted to spend but It took a few years I was trying to pay everything with my credit card. Nothing out of the ordanary but if I could pay with credit card I did.. Also payed of the balance each month so it was like cash.

Good find OP and I would keep that system as a backup. Those systems are still the preferred system to have since they play PS2 games almost perfectly and have 4 usb ports and card readers. Way to go in finding a great deal. If you play PS2 games at all I would definitely keep it unless you really need the money and please stay away from gamestop if you do try to sell it as they will rip you off. Do Ebay or Craiglist.

Wow even a YLOD is a good price, for a few quid i'd send it to Sony if it ever does pack in, i mean over here in UK it costs £200 to do this but the 60Gb consoles sell for over £300 so hell yes thats a good deal even if you do have to get it fixed... I'd keep it as a second console probabl just lock it up in a box or use it in another room as a blu-ray player.

Yeah, I can see where the confusion came in. :D

Yeah. These might be the closest moments I may have in winning a lottery. The deals are out there. We just never know when or where. I think my Wii and Xbox 360 are jealous now because my 80gb PS3 has a new buddy. The 60gb model is saying to others, "Yeah that's right, I can play 3 generations of consoles!"

Do Ebay or Craiglist. 3rdbass

There are pros and cons to both. Ebay: Pros- Don't have to meet someone. More likely to get more money for manageable shipping items. Cons- Ebay/Paypal get a big piece of the pie. I haven't had it happen yet, but there is no guaranteed honest buyers.

As for Craigslist: Pros- All the money is yours. You can back out if you change your mind. No seller rating. Cons- opposite of of Ebay's pros. You have to deal with lower offers.

I have had good experiences with both.
