Amazon all the way. Only time I go into gamestop anymore is when they have a deal running. Amazon usually has far better prices and the preorder specials are much much much better. I recently got crysis 2, release day shipping, for $54 with a 10 dollar credit. My girl got her a book with the credit lol. Not bad compared to $64 with no credit.
Games Stop gives me free games to play, so GameStop. All i do is wait a week after a game releases and buy it used, return it in a week. If im not done, ill come back the next day and re-buy it. GameStop doesn't keep records by the way, so don't worry about them saying "No, you returned too many items" Because i've done it like 80 times now lol.
This is a joke, right?
Amazon all day every day. Amazon usually matches Gamestop sale prices and has no tax where I live. For new releases Amazon gives better pre-order prices and game credits, and usually release day delivery is just $.99 (less than the TAX you would pay at Gamestop, nevermind the gas to drive over there). If you walk into a Gamestop your "new" game will probably be already opened and have stickers applied to the case. If you ask if they have any new sealed copies they will rudely reply "that is new, read the sticker" - before pulling the actual game disc out of a drawer. Does ANY other retailer do this for games or movies? I admit I go in there sometimes especially during their sales, but I usually try to avoid them. If you order from Gamestop online you'll get a sealed game just like Amazon, but of course 1 of the 5 or so games I've ordered form them came with a cracked case. Hardly a travesty, but I've NEVER gotten a damaged good from Amazon.com.
edit: also if you try to apply "coupon" codes online to make gamestop competitive (or better than) Amazon, they have the glitchiest coupon system ever. Half the time they don't work on games that clealry SHOULD qualify, sometimes it seems to work all the way until your final checkout screen when you'll notice you were magically not given the discount.
Gamestop is better when they have their buy 2, get 1 free deal. When they don't have that sale, I shop on ebay and then amazon.. I bought a lot of games for real cheap at gamestop. GOWIII, Assassin's Creed II and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for like only $44 and that included tax around x-mas sale. And the condition was like brand new. You could never get those games for that cheap even on amazon or ebay. And they do the same deal around black friday. I'm waiting for their sale. And another thing that I do is buy gamestop gift cards for cheap on ebay and then use them on a gamestop b2g1 free sale. It's like double savings.
Amazon all the way. They usually price match all of gamestop's prices anyways like the current power sale. and free shipping :D
Lol. Yeah I did that all the time, but the guys at the store started being punks about it. I switched to a different store and they pretty much encouraged it.Games Stop gives me free games to play, so GameStop. All i do is wait a week after a game releases and buy it used, return it in a week. If im not done, ill come back the next day and re-buy it. Amazon Why did you make this thread? Amazon sells games for cheaper from day 1 most of the time. If you wait a couple months for a game, you can get that game brand new for half of the original cost. GS still will charge you $60 until the publisher officially lowers the price. If you are really hurting money, you can get used copes of games for $15 to $20 cheaper than the new copy. GS only knocks $5 off. You do the math.
I get all my games from Amazon. Last time I went to Gamestop I almost had to laugh at their prices - everything was quite a bit more expensive than Amazon, except for the one or two games they may have on sale that day. But I decided to buy one of their games anyway because I wanted it right away, but the cashier told me they didn't actually have the disk, and offered me a used copy for "a couple bucks less", which would have only been about $15 more than Amazon wanted for a new copy.
I keep getting discounts from Amazon for pre-ordering games, and they built up to the point where I just got Uncharted 2 and God of War 3 for a total of $13. And those are brand new, unopened copies.
