My analogue stick is messed up. It makes whatever is on screen move to the right when it's not even being used. This is seriously messing up some of my games and making them unplayable. Is there a cure for this (besides opening the PSP)?

The sticks are tricky beasts. It might be a particle of something wedged inside the system itself. If that's the case you could try one of those mini vaccuum marketed for PCs since a standard would be difficult to work with. You could also try a dry q-tip with most of the fluff removed... just be careful. I don't think it would hurt the newer PSP models but the original's inner workings are more exposed.

The PSP hardware is pretty compact so it isn't terribly complicated. If you're very handy you could even take the sitck mechanism itself apart to clean and grease the metal contacts. It contains a fiddly little spring that you have to be careful of, though. Total replacement of the stick mechanism is easier since you wouldn't have to open the case with the contacts and spring. When an exterior guide on the stick casing broke I replaced the works and it was pretty painless. I'd sooner fiddle with a PSP's guts than a PS3 controller... that was irritating.

i read that if you rotate the analog a couple of times while viewing the system information, it will re calibrate and fix itself
