Over and over again playstation fans get promises and negative responses. I am sure most ppl on gamespot are aware of these (world launch, rumble, bc.). Why does sony keep doing it!

it is really annoying! just when you think they are goign to do something good they change it or do somehting stupid. The latest one was sony getting rid of bc for Australia (unless u run out and get a 60gb while it lasts).

The negative aspect for me in this latest move is not so much bc if they didnt have it from the start it wouldnt be a issue for me but the fact that once again they have annoyed me (and many others). They should atleast give ppl the option of buying a higher priced console.

btw i am not a economy expert but one thing i find hard to understand is how Australia gets hit with a $699 price tag for the 40gb and the US only $399. i know its in US dollars but the Australian dollar is 90 something cents. like i said i am not a expert in economy so any insight is appreciated.

I use to be a sony fan i still am, just not for there latest console (yet). sony it is simple give consumers a fully functional ps3 at a lower price with good games if u need more money stop spending millions on rubbish advertising that no one cares about or on your massive hyping PR machine that everyone can see through. It seems they are forgetting everything that made the PS2 soo great and not to mention this new "home" they have created how many users really would want to waste their time with that!

seriously what is going to generate more money loyalty to fans or some expensive shallow advertising venture. OK OK i will stop now sorry ppl is i have bored you say wateva you like. peace to all the gamers

P.S. thanx to all the ppl that have given me advice on posting :D

First of all, how can you complain about Home when it isn't even out and you don't have to use it at all if you don't want to?  What's more, Home is one of the most exciting innovations coming from Sony and you can bet your buttons it'll sell consoles.

As for backwards compatibility, you have to keep your PS2 to play Guitar Hero regardless, so I don't know that losing BC is a big loss for a lot of people.

Thridly, it only makes sense that Sony is being more competitive in the US market, since it's the biggest gaming market in the world.  Their success, to a large degree, hinges on their success here in the States.  Another thing that occurs to me in relation to lower American price is standard of living.  Many Americans believe that they live in the richest country in the world.  It's not true by a long shot.  I think the average standard of living in the US is still higher than Australia's, but that's only an average.  The US currently has its most lopsided distribution of wealth since right before the great depression, so I think it's likely that the working ****s in Australia are better off, on average, than those in the States.  In other words, you guys can afford it more easily than we can.

Now I'll get flamed by a bunch of my fellow Americans who want to think their country is perfect.  It'll turn into a real fun thred.

from what i have seen and read soo far about home is that it is just a way for sony to get money from advertising. Think that most players wont use it often only hardcore gamers and i personally feel that loyalty to fans will get them more into the market then home will. If they sold the ps3 40gb at $450 in aus it will sell like hotcakes thats one of the reasons why the price difference confuses me.

Yawn, how about making a topic title that represents what is in your topic so we don't have to click and read something so stupid. Or better yet, write a blog...

sorry for no paragraphs guys i will remember to do it in the future i dont post much lol. Anyway! the point of my post is not to discuss home that much (or what xbox is doing) i gues the main question i want answered is why do sony keep stuffing around! why say something then do somehting else. Thats what annoys me more then anything. I cant talk for the rest of the word but the feelings i get from a lot of sony fans in Aus is that they are sick of being screwed over. Where is sony's loyalty?

i think it does represent what the topic is about i am annoyed and I am questioning sony's decisions.

I am sorry if i have made this unclear i guess i must have gotten carried away. I made this topic to Discuss sony decissions and why do they keep making decesions that i believe to a lot of gamers seems negative for the playstation.

I don't think BC is a major issue... in my context, i don't have a ps2... and will never want to play it's games, (Why? when i've got a ps3?) If i HAD a ps2 however, and games... i would play it on my ps2, even though u don't think its true... not alot of people in the market will buy original ps2 games, there are heaps of mod-junks out there if u think about it, even if my friends had a ps3 with BC they wouldn't use it, but thats just my opinion.

They have stated that from now on the only console that will be sold in Australia will be the 40gb version with no bc.

At the moment your correct but the 60gb version ps3 with bc will are no longer goign to be made and soon wont be available there could be some pretty disapointed kids this christmas.

Backward compat costs more than a ps2 itself... you can even get a mod with the money u waste, HDD always upgradable, lol i was pretty dissapointed about no 60gb, but when i had to literally pen and paper figure out which ones the better deal, i got the 40 and it keeps me happy.

*Yawn.*

I bought the 60 gig since last December. The "gamers" can gripe all they want to, but after almost a full year, they should be able to save either 400 for the people that...I don't want to say cheap...or pay for the blasted Bc.

Ever heard of get what you paid for?

People **** about price and to great cost to them, they gave you lower prices, now you choose, you want to pay less or buy the luxury options, upto you. Your not being forced not to get BC.

Even if you're not an "economy expert", you should still know that it costs money to move things around, + duty & taxes, etc. :|

Just start saving for either version, I got my 60 gig at $480. I mean the man made his point pretty clear, and unfortunately Sony does have this habit of making false promises. At the moment, as far as the U.S is concerned, they're trying to clean up their act. The same should be said for U.K and Australia, but by what you've described, it's like Sony is focusing mainly on North America. Sucks. I think 2008 will see much better days though.
