I don't believe they were behind the recent outage. They have no reason to deny it. It's most likely another group that followed their example. Or at least, that's what I think at this point.frostybanana
So basically they said they would attack the PSN the first time now they're saying their going to do it again ... and we're not supposed to believe they're behind it. It's great how terorist organisations can get away simply by denying they did the crimes they said they were going to do.

Did you even read the article you linked? They specifically said the attack will not target the PlayStation Network.

No... They said they would attack PSN last week. Then, afterwards, they said they're not going to attack the PSN again because their goal is not to hurt the consumers. Then PSN gets attacked (allegedly), and Anon denies that they did it. Think about that for a second. There is no reason to deny that action. Their goal is to instill fear. The fact that PSN went down for a few days is something that a group like that would WANT to take credit for because it proves that they're capable of such an action.[QUOTE="dizzyrhino"][QUOTE="frostybanana"]I don't believe they were behind the recent outage. They'd be arrested for something like this ... that is after Sony rips them a new one.

I never said anything about the article saying they'll attack the PSN. Clearly they're showing us they're still working on attacks. If they weren't behind this they would back off, but now they're pushing forward. If two bombs go off in the same area within two days of each other do we automatically assume they're not caused by the same people? No cos that would be stupid. What about if we recieved a threat from someone telling us they're going to set off bombs? Do we throw that threat out and assume it's unrelated? No cos that would be stupid. What if we find the person who made the threat in the process of planting more bombs but he denies doing anything. Do we believe him? No because that would be stupid.

These frequent outages are unacceptable. Seems like PSN is down more than its up.

Hahaha!!! Omg, that's hilarious, you just compared anon to a terrorist group. Good god we have some touchy people in this world. These aren't terrorists, and I highly doubt they are responsible for the current outtage. They like the attention if you didn't know this, they would have claimed responsibility immediately were they responsible.
People act like the only hackers on the internets are anon, don't forget that this couldn't be further from the truth.
You guys are giving them what they really want - attention.
Ignore them and their egos take massive damage.

Your analogies are flawed. In such a case, there would be evidence and a pattern linking someone to those events. In this case, it's different. It's called "plausible deniability." Anonymous would gladly jump at the chance to take credit for pissing Sony off if they were actually responsible for bringing down the PlayStation Network. Yes, they're planning more attacks on Sony's mainframe, but they're avoiding the PlayStation Network because it actually undermines their cause by alienating the consumer. It doesn't make sense, unless they're really not behind it.
yh exactly, they are obviously very insecure and are desperate for the attention. They can hack PSN.. yh? and Sony will fix it thats why they have a job and these low lifes dont. It just an inconvenience thats all but its really nice weather so im sure we can survive. P.s. Anyone think its gonna be back on tonight?Mr_Fujiv1I do think it will be back tonight. Fingers crossed.
While it is lame that PSN is down for a few days, like many people have said, tons of you are not paying for it. I'm a PSN Plus memeber and I'm still not getting all upset. We really don't know why PSN is down. For me, it's been acting weird all week. If PSN being down for a few days is going to make it better, I'm all for it.
We lived without online games for years and years. We can go a few days without PSN.
I dont think a single person likes Anon... Well anyone who supports the industry. People want way too much from a console these days! All i want it to do is play my games and im a happy person. Thats why i bought a PS3, to play PS3 games! Not to make toast and run N64 games... Sony offer PSN for free, what more do people want? cooldustI like PS3 but it would be cool if it could play N64 games even though i have n64 already. Too bad the wii cant play n64 games damm
"the attack will NOT be against the PSN, just to clarify.
Anonymous will not do anything to disrupt the PlayStation Network."
Some people need to read.
[QUOTE="metal_zombie"]Too bad the wii cant play n64 games dammSM-X
Uh, yes, it can. Whether the Wii be hacked or otherwise, it's capable of playing Nintendo 64 games. Whatever. This is off-topic.
Point is: Anonymous is not responsible for the current outage.
You don't even have to hack it. They have the virtual console available at the Wii store."the attack will NOT be against the PSN, just to clarify. >Anonymous will not do anything to disrupt the PlayStation Network.">Some people need to read. >ColonelVodkaYeah, and because something is written on the internet, it makes it true.
Maybe it's a Sleeper Cell of Anonymous that is doing it and doesn't have current orders!
LOL, It cracks me up with all the speculation. A blog says it's Japan, but then another blog says it's not Japan. A blog says it's anonymous! Another blog says it's not. A blog says Anonymous isn't going to attack the PSN. Then another one says they are. People just need to Read!
All I know, is the PSN is down. By who, who knows. Is it Sony? Is it some sub-group of the kiddie forum Anonymous hangs out on? Is it a Split off of the anonymous group? Is it a rival hacker group that knows they can do this, and blame it on anonymous? I really don't care, I just want the Service to come back up.

These frequent outages are unacceptable. Seems like PSN is down more than its up. PSN has been up for almost 5 years. So in that time psn has only been down for a week TOTAL, if that. So, in my book, that's actually a pretty good track record
It's like there's some guy standing in your front yard threatening ot vandalize your property. Then you come home one day and find a rock's been thrown through your window. Gosh, I wonder who did it? Some people on this board apparently couldn't figure it out. They're standing around saying "Gee, maybe the rock fell from the sky?"
Pretty sad.
This only causes inconvenience for consumers. Sony couldn't care less - it's a freakin' corporation, not a person.
Again, if it were Anonymous, they would take credit. Even if it wasn't them, they might've taken credit because the whole point of the attacks is to scare Sony. It's like there's some guy standing in your front yard threatening ot vandalize your property. thats a very silly post , i think its silly how they do maintenance on the biggest weekend when people are most likely to be online!
but hey you must not have a job if youre ok with it ?

They are only doing maintenance because it's broken, they aren't doing it just to piss people off. He is correct, it's been doing odd things all week i guess it finally packed in kinda like how a car will rattle for a few days before completely breaking... Not Sony's fault or Anonymous's... It just happens, maybe they had a fire who knows. Maybe a water pipe burst and fried a couple of servers, again who knows.[QUOTE="brozz"][QUOTE="mrsniper83"]This never happens on xbox.It seems every week i turn on my ps3 the server is down.I know its free but can't they do something to make this kinda stuff impossible to happen?Nerkle01Agreed. lol u guys are so paranoid about this conspiracy stuff. u probably think the world will end in 2012 too cuz theres a bunch of triangles and eyes everywhere too right? chill out man psn is down for like 2 days its not a big deal. its a big service filled with millions of ppl, so its likely that they need to do maintanence or updates of some sort every once in a while.
This never happens on xbox.It seems every week i turn on my ps3 the server is down.I know its free but can't they do something to make this kinda stuff impossible to happen?mrsniper83now i know ur trolling. every week u turn ur ps3 and the servers are down? dude servers havent been down like this is long time. it barely goes down. why dont u do urself a favor and go back to the other console instead....at least if ur going to post, post somethin smart and makes sense, instead of saying somethin so stupid as every week the psn is down.
