You mean you upgraded your weapon, not your str stats? Maybe you bumped it up to a point where you need more str points

no i had a + 5 shmitar and like 11 strength when i was in the tower that looks like a prison in took one hit to kill those like inmate guys and 2 hits to kill the tentacle like prison guards i call them. i bumped up too 14 strength and now it takes 2 for the inmates and 3 for the guard guys that does not make sense to me, is it possible you have less hit damage in soul form? i have not paid attention to when its actually happening if its soul form or full body?

I think you do more damage in soul form than body, so that might be it

Try repairing your weapon. Just go to either blacksmith. Or maybe the weapon your using scales off of Dexterity.

It could also be that the world tendency has shifted (I don't recall if that's the proper term). Certain actions you do will change world tendency, and day to day changes will occur if your playing online sometimes. The more a world shifts to black, the stronger/more resilient enemies become and the more souls you get for killing them.

IIRC, world tendency shifts when:

Kill a Boss = it gets lighter

Kill a primeval demon = it gets much lighter

Die while in body form = it gets darker.

Kill certain NPCs = it gets darker.

There are definitely other causes, and checking the Demon's Souls Wiki is a better place to get the information. Here's a link:

Edit: Also, your character tendency could have shifted also, which alters how much health you have and may also alter damage output, but I forget on this point. The wiki also has information on this.

All the possible explanations I can think of have already been given, but note that increasing strength won't automatically increase damage for all weapons.
