on friday i went and purchased the ps3, i must say that system is a beast! looks so sophisticated!! however i was careless and didn't give it enough room to breath when it was laying on it's side and the machine shutted down and had the red lights flashing, then i made it stand upright and turn it on, then shutted off again soon after (maybe i didn't give it enough time to cool down?...). but after letting it cool and after turning it on it's been working fine. Should i go exchange for another ps3? (worried that i have damaged my ps3 during the two shut downs)or am i worrying about the ps3 too much? Thanks in advance!
oh ok sorry for the confusion and no i dont think you need to exchange your PS3 just make sure the top/right and the back of the PS3 have breathing room thats all i know cuz i had mine b4 inside an entertainment center and it was shut down once
thanks for the input! on a side note, where do u (and a bunch of other people) get those horizontal icons in their sig area? (ps3 owner, ps2 owner etc etc...) thanks!
I think it should be ok. I think you're:D not suppose to shut it off while it is in the middle of something because it will corrupt things that are saved on the HardDrive, things that it is reading or writing. So unless you have problems it you shouldn't worry about it. Remember that you can always send it to sony if you have to. I ussually worry about things that i buy, but remembering that i can always send it to the manufactorer puts me at ease.
A key point in anything that plays CD-roms, NEVER stand it up. They were made to play horizontally, even if they tell you that you can, its not safe to do so. And be sure when you turn off your system, have it on stand-by mode. Imma go OT if i keep on going so imma say that yes, return your PS3 only if it gives you any more problems.
