This one sets me over the top. At the end of the game during the credits, they removed the great composed song "I am the Wind", and put a song from Lament of Innocence from PS2in its place. WTF? What were they thinking??? That song sucks --- it doesn't even fit the mood, and has no words to it. The old one was just fine, as it was one of the games trademarks. If you've played through the original symphony of the night, you ould know what I'm talking about. OH yea, this goes for the xbox version as well, they've changed the song on that one as well.

I'm so glad they released the originalSOTN on the playstation network. this dracula x chroniclesversion sucks. All of the changes thay made to it pretty much sucked. What a waste of ten hours.

Is it worth buying SOTN from the playstation network if I never played it before? I have dracula x chronicles and its my first time playing SOTN.

If you're a long time symphony of the night fan, then I say stick to the original. The dialogue is memorable, whereas the DXC version is bland and pale. They redid the dialogue because when the game frist came out in 97', apparently it was translated verbatim to the japanese version. It was fine though, nothing seemed out of place. Also the voice acting sucks in the new one, no feeling whatsoever in their voices. This applies to the version on DXC, and the xbox version. If you want the full experience, play the PSN download, or get the original for PS1.

Also, the border sucks on the DXC version. you can't eliminate it on thePSP, whereas in the PSN download, you ca select four different views, 2 of which don't have borders.

I say still get DXC for the other two games though, they are phenomenal. I love the game for what it is

How could I "be more wrong"? It's my opinion that they tampered with a formula that wasn't broken to begin with. I hope you doappreciate the changes, I'm not saying you wasted your money, I simply feel that this version is inferior. I've finished both 200.6%, and I personally feel that the changes made were unjustified. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

So basically they changed the ending song, updated the translation, and added voice acting? Oh and you have to play with borders, which I would either way because the game is made in a 4:3 aspect ratio and I hate distorting the image.

I think that DXC is a fine way to play Symphony of the Night, and anyone who hasn't played SotN isn't going to be disappointed with the version in DXC.

My question is, why not a black border? Why do I have to look at "stairs", or "a field"? I played mostly with a border on the PSN download, and it was more satisfying.

It always had voice acting, but now all of the memorable lines are gone.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good version to play, as long as you aren't a huge fan of the original as I am, and know the dialogue word for word. I gave the game a 10 because it has three of the best castlevania's ever developed.

I prefer the new one, although the cheesy lines from the classic still come to mind first. However, I never liked "I Am the Wind," so I can't agree with you. Especially since they added a new boss and Maria is now playable. I just wish they'd added the Saturn areas.

How much did they change the lines? Does it still get the same plot across?

It gets the plot across, but I've played too much of the original to enjoy this dialogue. The voices are noticeably different too, Alucard is darker, maria doesn't have an accent. Some of the lines aren't even close though. For instance, Dracula recitesa bible verse, Matthew 16:26at the end of the original, and inthe DXC versionhe says something completely different. The gameplay is identical though. Unfortunately, I'm a suker for the story, and it's more familiar to me in the old dialogue.
