online retailers (andstores) in the states stock the ps3for $560 aus dollars (compared to our $999 aus dollars). i thought awesome i'll just order one from the states and have it shipped to my hometown of sydney. i clicked 'confirm purchase' only to get 'cannot ship to this destination due to warranty or manufacturer restrictions'.

i just thought i'd share my miserable story with everyone.

Aww. Well, yeah, the thing is, I think the PS3 is still region-locked, meaning it wouldn't have played AUS games anyway. Perhaps you can try shipping it from one of the other PAL territories, for example, somewhere in Europe, such as UK.

Bottom line, though, Sony doesn't want you shipping PS3's from other regions to bypass their MSRP, since they're coded specifically for individual regions.

Or you could always take a "vacation" and come back with a PS3.

How is the relation of the AU $ and the U$S??

Where I live, PS3 cost 900 U$S, and I think we are the ones that pay the most.

Have you been hiding under a rock all this time?? jk

PS and PS2 games are the only region locked games. Movies are region locked.

PS3 GAMES ARE NOT REGION LOCKED.!

Yea the $999AU makes $876US so we do pay alot but i mean blu ray players are going for $1600 here so i guess the price difference is still there.
I was browsing a japanese site and they were selling the *** ps3 for $688AU.
I would have gotten it but id rather no issues with the warranty and things like that so i bought mine here. :D

that's a good idea because i wouldn't spend money ona ps3 that can only play ps3 games, even though that's its main purpose.i'd want the whole works (ps, ps2 games, movies). only problem is the UK price converts to almost the exact Aus price, $982.00. so no point :(

Order elsewhere? A lot of US retailers don't ship to Australia, but some do. That, or you can ask some friends to pick one up for you the next time they're there, or you can get while during a business trip/holiday.

so far amazon and eb games in the US don't ship to Aus, and they're some of the biggest retailers. i don't know anyone going to the states anytime soon, and there's no way i'll go to the states with my current job lol....

but if u happen to come across any retailer that will ship to Aus, please let me know. cheers.

DVDBoxOffice.com - ship to Australia.  I buy from them all the time.

If you want to order a console though you need to pay with a Visa CC.
