I am looking to hook my PS3 up to the internet via WiFi, and currently just have a standard DSL modem through SBC. I am looking to buy a wireless router, I do not want something with 5 billion options, just something simple, inexpensive and reliable. Any suggestions?

I have an ASUS wl-500gp and it is on the second floor about 20 feet from my PS3 and Wii. The Wii never has a problem with the wireless connection, but the PS3 is terrible. It would always drop the connection or never even find it sometimes. I had to break down and buy an 80 foot network cable to run through my walls to the PS3. Now it works great. The moral of the story: Make sure that your router has excellent range and think about investing in a booster antenna if you are firm on having wireless.

I have a older D-Link extreme G that works great. The price of these router are down a good bit from what I paid when I got mine. But really most routers that support up to the G series will work. Unless you happen to have a wireless phone system that uses the same frequency then this could cause some problems.

My wireless network is running at 2.5 GHZ (I think that's what it is) and my wireless phone is running at 5.8 GHZ. This alone can cause most of the problems with wireless networks.

My PS3 is only going to be about 20 feet away from the router, in the same room no less. Am i just better off running an ethernet cord under my floor and up through and just direct connecting? I just do not want to be losing signal and dropping out of online games or during updates etc

Dynex Enhanced-G Wireless Router, not the high end like a linksys, but very good, easy hook up and about 40 bucks, can't beat it. I bought it for my ps3 and wii and haven't had a single issue, and my connection is top notch, its twice as fast as a 50 dollar linksys, so for me its awesome. I recommend it highly.

If you know anything about wireless internet technology, you know that network stability and performance is critical, and most times that is neither inexpensive or easy. I would get the best I could if I was planning on playing wirelessly, if not just for you, then for the community that has to play with you and, perhaps, your lag if you go "inexpensive and easy".

Yes. I have wifi, but chose to use a cable going across the floor. I use a rug to cover the cable; it looks and works great.

Well the reviews say it is simple to setup and the people that put reviews up for it on Circuit City said it is easy and I've found the router for $75. Seeing how I paid $120 for my vonage router that is inexpensive to me.

I had the lynksys WRT54G and I had nothing but trouble with it. I was using it with my ps3 and I needed to reconfigure it after psn updates. I finally got tired of that and bought a ZyXEL X-550, it sets up easy and has been great. My ps3 is about 40 ft away and the signal strength is always around 90-95%. (Amazon is selling them for $70.)
