Its an RPG, it doesn't really have a need for a 2nd analog or extra buttons/triggers.

It has been many years since I played the game and didn't remember if I had to used them or not, but if not that'll be good... now does that go for FF VII to?
I've only played FF VII for a short while and so far I haven't had to use a second analog (No camera control) and no need for R2 or L2 (although press left on the analog nub acts as L2 and right as R2). Most of the game takes place using menu's instead.
The second trigger buttons are mapped to the analog stick, and movement is on the d-pad. But you can change that and switch the two around, which works just as well, depending on which way you like it. As for the second analog, I don't know yet, because I haven't gotten far enough to the point where I would have needed it yet, but it shouldn't be a problem. You can even make the game full screen, which is pretty cool. The only thing I didn't like was the long download time. :P Go download this naow!
The only "issue" I had with the controls is that to escape battle, you need to press L2 + R2 (which is up on the analog nub). Sometimes, my nub doesn't seem to realize that I'm pushing up so that gets a little annoying. However, I didn't realize that you could switch the analog nub and the directional buttons, so I'll probably be doing that, since I prefer the analog for movement.
As for FFVII, I haven't had any problems whatsoever with the controls the way they are.
