So I got to the cliff area just after the Undead Asylum, and now I have two paths. A path to the underground caverns, and one towards a bridge. Which would be the best path to take? I got killed underground by 2 Ghosts. I chose to be a Knight, so do you guys have any tips for that as well? Thanks.

But i'll have to go down there to ring the second bell. This game is great though, no frustrations in the deaths so far lol.

At the early stage of the game. I believe the location name is "Undead Burg" (Spell?)

1. You can get 300 souls every 20 seconds at the huge bridge with the dragon on it. Just trigger the dragon so it will spit fire to kill everything and net you 300 souls. Climb/jump back down to the bonfire and repeat. I spent 2 hours doing that and got myself to level 40 and pretty much bought everything from the zombie merchant.

2. The same dragon, if you go under the bridge. There's a spot where you can see the dragon's tail moving. Shoot the tail with your bow 15 times and you'll get a drake sword. One of the most powerful sword in the game and it will make the game easier.

3. armors and shields are useless once you leave the "beginning" area. Mobility and agility are way more important in this game. Go for melee weapon that attacks quickly instead of a powerful for slow gaint sword.

4. You don't have to kill anything you see. You'll find yourself backtracking quite a bit, some time it's better to just run pass the respawned enemies to your desired location.

5. If you don't have a guide, try to draw simple 2D map that pin point the location of the merchants, bonfires and tough enemies. It might sound stupid at first but after a few days into the game, there's no way you can remember where everything is. The open world in this game is quite big and confusing.

6. Instead of blocking, blocking, blocking and more blocking with a shield. It's better to train yourself to parry, dodge and backstab. The game is so much easier if you play it that way. (at least for me)

for the 2nd point, how do you suggest going under the dragon without it killing you with fire? I'm soul level 20 so it may just be that I have to level up still.

I think this is a VERY good suggestion, as simple as it may be. From my experience with the game, the lower down you tend to go, the tougher the enemies also seem to be overall. From your starting point, I would highly, highly recommend going up to the Undead Burg.

After defeating the Taurus Demon, when you go down onto the bridge you should be able to see about 5 skeleton enemies, and behind them is the red dragon. To the right of the skeletons is a stairway that leads to a room underneath the dragon. From this room, you can continue on underneath the bridge (be wary, there are skeletons here still but the dragon won't be able damage you), but before you do that I recommend that as soon as you enter the room underneath the bridge, you take the door on the left and kick down the ladder (this is a shortcut that leads to the bonfire in the Undead Burg, this will make replenishing estus flasks and reaching the area with the dragon much quicker).

Hope this helps.

This doesn't have anything to do with stuff here, and is more like just a rant. I finally found out why I've never found anyone to teach my character spells. It's because I didn't buy the goddamn residence key from the undead merchant in undead burg. Goddamn random thing has meant I've been struggling running around meleeing as a mage (to conserve what little I spells I had). Been playing almost 10 hours like that.

So, for any other mages (Sorcerer class) out there, buy that key and then find the door it opens and rescue some trapped dude who'll teach you spells soon after. !%$@%@#$%

I haven't done it yet, since I just read up on it, but the wikia says this: "To access Griggs, turn right at the bottom of the second set of stairs (with the big fire at the bottom). Turn into the alley with the torch-wielding Undead at the end. Griggs is in the second room on the left. After you speak with him, carefully destroy the barrels (don't hit Griggs!) for a full set of Magician's clothes and a Sorcerer's Catalyst."

I'm thinking this is on the lower section of Undead Burg, in the area where you first fight those rabid dogs on the way to the Capra boss or whatever his name is. I vaguely remember a door that was locked there. I've just been through this area (I've been going through other areas first) so it's not out of my way now at least.

Edit: Also, you can't buy from him straight away, he'll move to the firelink shrine area soon after.

Lol good piece of advice, I jumped off the cliff when the Taurus Demon showed up as I thought I made a mistake by choosing the spiral staircase path, but then the Dark Knight killed me, nearly killed him though.

Yeah, he is in the basement area of Undead Burg. You get the Basement Key in the Undead Parish area. The door down to the basement is near where you first meet Solaire after coming down the spiral staircase after the area with the Taurus Demon boss

i think they are factions which you can level up in. When you reach certain levels by performing certain tasks (invading other players, helping other players or killing players on book of sinners lists etc) then you recieve unique weapons, rings, armour, sorceries, miracles etc

One important piece of advice? (One that i could have used early on to make things substantially easier)

Don't use Fire Keeper Souls. They're not for you. Like the Bosses Souls in Demon's Souls, you need to give them to certain NPCs to get their benefit.

You need to give them to a Fire Keeper to upgrade your Estus flasks. There's a keeper below the Firelink Shrine and one in Anor Londo (the Firelink shrine keeper got murdered in my game).

Don't be like me and waste your first one by using it. It got me some humanity and little else, and upgrading your flasks makes things much easier.

If you want an early-game Fire Keeper Soul, when you begin at Firelink (right after the tutorial) take the lift down to New Londo Ruins. When you are crossing the wood bridge to the area with the ghosts, you can see, to your right, the shine of a treasure on a seemingly unreachable little piece of land in the middle of the water.

Ignoring the ghosts, when you hit the area in the water you can walk on, head right and follow the edge of the area you can walk on. There's a a thin pathway to the right here leading to the treasure. Some ghosts appear here, but if you run you can reach the treasure before they kill you, then upgrade the flask and begin Undead Burg with an already upgraded Flask.

Wish i knew that when i started. Would have made things much easier.

I felt your pain too bro.You must be using melee a lot too yea? What weapon you using? Currently I've upgraded my Shortsword to +5, waiting to turn it divine. It's probably a waste, but screw it, we need to melee a lot, and I'm not putting much into strength.

I felt your pain too bro.You must be using melee a lot too yea? What weapon you using? Currently I've upgraded my Shortsword to +5, waiting to turn it divine. It's probably a waste, but screw it, we need to melee a lot, and I'm not putting much into strength.

Except for at the very begining I have exclusively used soul arrows. As long as you don't waste them and recharge them when you can it is enough to get by. You just gotta stay light, roll, and keep your distance. Also you have to spend your souls on leveling up. The strength of the soul arrows goes up pretty quick as you level.

Really? I don't think I've underleveled my Int stat, I'm at, 26 currently I think, but my arrows were still needing like 2-3 hits to kill enemies. Add to that almost every enemy has a shield, making my patience wear thin really. Even now, with a ring to boost sorcery, I still need 3 soul arrows to kill current enemies (harder enemies than before of course) but at least now I have more arrows than before. 30 was way too little for me.

Yeah, it takes me about 2 or 3 hits as well. I guess I'm just really used to it now. I didn't realise until recently that attunement gave you more arrows ao I'm a little under on the stats for that LOL. Do you just focus on intelligence/attunement or do you upgade other stats?

Man, I learned that the hard way. The description says "used to upgrade flask" so... I used it. I figured it was so minimal an upgrade that I didn't notice. Then I met the lady under Firelink shrine and it all made sense. Damn that poor description of an insanely valuable item! DAMN IT! lol

Hmm, for some reason I thought I did give it to someone, but I also remember thinking the improvement was minimal. Did I do the same thing? Damn. Can someone else upgrade it, since I know I didn't find the keeper under the firelink shrine bonfire until much later? Haha, at least I did it right once after Blighttown. Now I have a +1 next to the Flask, I just assumed I needed two for that...

I put a couple points into Str and Dex for meleeing. You don't seem to need that, though there is a catalyst, a bit weaker in magic but can be used to melee with a bit of Str and Dex. Most points goes into Int of course. A few into Attunement. Attunement itself doesn't give you more arrows, you still need to purchase the arrow scrolls, and some are still expensive. And from that first trainer, you can only buy 1 scroll of each spell he has. You already have 3 slots which is decent, but one more point gets you another slot which is decent always. I dunno how far I'd go though, having 8-10 slots might be unnecessary (given you only scroll one-way).

Vit and End is really up to you, if you think you can evade/block well enough, you don't really need much. I still put a bit in since I like being more secure. Me doing melee, I need more End as well. Lastly I put some into Resistance, since it gives more defence and some poison resistance. You might do better finding armor with resistances though.

I personally want some pyromancy spells too, so I'm gonna be putting more into Attunement soon. Early on, 3-4 attunement slots is pretty good enough.

You have to grind quite a bit in the early stages. I found out level20 is a minimum to make a chance against the early bosses like the Bell Gargoyles or the Demon with the two blades (don't remember his name, I always die too soon because of those pesky dogs that are with it). I also found a lightning demon miniboss near the smith that kills me almost instantly...

Oh, my best advice for getting a lot of souls quickly: The smith in Undead Parish (outside the church, down the path to the right) sells a seal for a door in the forest. Save up 20k and buy it. Once you do, there are six foes behind that door that grant you 1k - 3k souls each. You can get your 20k back in ten minutes if you're good. There's also a bonfire behind an illusionary wall just beside the sealed door, so you can rinse and repeat all you want. I do suggest that you're at least a level 20 or so before you go at them, because they're quite good. Three of them are invisible, so you can't even lock onto them. Anyway, once I got strong enough, I could get 100k in about half an hour. It's a great spot.

I wasn't a level 20 yet when I got to the bell tower and it took me 2 tries using soul arrows. I could see the difficulty if you were using standard weapons though.
