I heard a lot of these stories on this board. I'm planning on buying this game, but I am worried about this happening to me also.

there is no such thing just bad bad rumors to discredit the PS3 just like eevery other rumor about the PS3. Been playing COD4 and many others for hours and some for days - Uncharted and never had any issues

True. I already got a PS3 so it wasn't exactly going to keep me from buying one. However, I do see it possibly keeping people from wanting to buy one. Either way I googled it and it's not true.

There have been several stories about this "issue" posted here, and I was genuinely worried. No need to be asses about it.

This isa pretty ridiculous claim. I'm sure whoever started that rumour just wanted attention. Or it's propaganda against the best selling game on the ps3 right now.
Got a 20gig up to 80gig with USB cooler had COD4 lock up the machine so bad had to throw main power switch. Happened 2 times. Other times kickbacks to XMB or a freeze up. Last firmware seemed to fix the total lockup with the game update. Now they need to fix the server lockups. But its EA and they might fix it. Probably to busy getting Battlefield Bad Company servers read. Take not if EA is handling the online end expect issues. Otherwise no problems with my PS3. Hell I have hangups with OBLIVION if you dont save often.

just because you have't seen anything about this doesn't make it nonsense i have seen 2 cases of this happening another one and myself.. i was playing call of duty 4..got a wierd error message then went to try to play again and it wouldnt read the disc..or any disc for that matter.. :roll:
Its simple. CoD4 is no cause of PS3 breaking. What is happening is that most of those guys were 24/7 playing that game, so if their consoles were to show any problem, they had a higher chance of it being while playing CoD4 than anything else. Also, of all the posts that appeared, none was able to show proof or whatsoever. I know 6 guys with the game, and one of them has been playing it almost 10 hours a day on a daily basis (he is insane) and has no problems whatsoever.
Its simple math, if you are playing it all the time, how much is the chance of not getting the error with a different game?
