I was introduced to console gaming (other than Nintendo/SEGA back in the day) about a year ago when I first bought an Xbox 360. I then traded it in to get the Ps3 in december 06. I've been really happy with my Ps3, and I am having ablast with the exclusives, but being a long time PC gamer, i'm dissapointed that consoles really haven't been able to secure a fooing in the RTS genre.

Is there any hope for Ps3 to start introducing soem quality RTS games? Bladestorm is a great game, but it can't compare to the amazing PC games like the Dawn of War's, Starcraft II, Warcraft, Total War's, C&C ect. Is there any hope for us RTS gamers who have consoles? I just don't want to spend 2000+ dollars on a new pc that is going to be outdated in a couple years. PC gaming is getting ridiculous now, it can't compare to getting a Ps3 that has no need for installation, spy-ware/virus problems, no compatability problems, and you can enjoy playing your games on your couch on a HDtv.

So no matter how badly I want to get back into RTS games, i'm not spending thousands of dollars on a PC. PC gaming is for fools, i'd much rather put all that money towards a down payment on a house. So does Sony have any plans to get any great RTS games developed on the Ps3?

I was crossing my fingers for a PS3 version of C&C 3 with full mod support. (hopefully if the M/K thing really takes off ala UT3, might get "their" attention) I'm too lazy to buy a new graphic card just to run this game on PC. I would actually have to buy BOTH the game and graphic card. One thing that kinda makes me sad though, that it's not Westwood anymore and just full on EA. But C&C is one game I'm REALLY waiting for. But it seems like I'll have to "bite the bullet" and do this PC. I would've loved to sit in the comfort of my couch/whatever that isn't this crabby hard computer/kitchen table chair lol, and play C&C 3 on an HD TV through PS3.

That would be cool, if more developers started making RTS for PS3!~ I for one would like to see Blizzard jump on board for it! Can you imagine Starcraft 2 or any of the Warcraft games on PS3! It be awesome!

I do agree about the annoyance onhaving to keep up with the advances of PC technology. I mean I got my desktop with all the high end hardwarearound 2005 & it works well for school plus some of the 06 & before games. But it's basically paperweight for the current games. It's costly to keep upgrading for every new hardware that comes out. I'd rather have it on the PS3 so it's all in one!

Yeah, mine's not all that high end either. But I've read the specs and everything else I have says I can run it but the video card. Only running a GForce 4. But cards that can run it are comming down in price, and I don't want no super $200 card anyways. Just what gets me by is just fine with me.

Hm, I'd have to look into those. I hope some of those are Military RTS games. I'm not fond of the Age Of Empires stuff personally.

The Wall, White Knight Story, and of course Civilization look promising. The ps3 has a keyboard and mouse, what more can you ask for, they need to start making more RTS games for ps3, no excuses now.

I'd be in heaven if I could play Starcraft II online on my ps3 & 50" HDtv, my goodness that would be amazing. I'm also hoping for some good Warhammer 40k & fantasy games in the future. Unfortunately the Warhammer RTS game is coming out for xbox 360 only, but that franchise (mark of chaos) isn't too good anyhow.

wel... since the ps3 has bluetooth support the gamer can easily gain access n use a keyboard n a mouse... so they may in the future release a good RTS... but right now tht is hard because most developers make games for the ps3 sixaxis controller... n you can only mave around so fast wit the controller... it jst cant match wit the speed and accuracy of a mouse... so if they release a good1 then you would prob need to get a keyboard n a mouse... but since bluetooth supported products are easy to find it may not be so far away...

well blade storm isn;t a traditional RTS it feels like dynasty warriors but not as fun =(

ps3 should defintely be the prime candidate for RTS as consoles are starting to receive RTS' (360atm & ps1 back in the day) but ps3 would be nice with m/kb support

& on C & C 3 , it has really low system requirements, it will actually run with intergrated graphics (64mb)

see being developed be EA and the sloppy pricks they are they just used the engine from generals n modded it a bit lol

There is definitely a potential for RTS games on PS3 because, as previously mention, because of mouse/keyboard combination.

Maybe in future.

I played the Lord of the Rings RTS on my 360 and it was totally crippled. The controls sucked and the game was dumbed down. RTS requries rapid and complex mouse movements like clicking and dragging that simply isn't possible on a control pad. The keyboard and mouse is the only way this genre could possibly work, though I doubt it would take off anytime soon unless Sony offically release a nice keyboard/mouse/trackball combo.

As for strategy games like Civ coming to the PS3. Don't get your hopes up. From the previews Civ looks extremely dumbed down, its basically an empty shell compared to the PC version which any laptop can play.
