DMC aswell if you dont mind playing through the game 2x just to unlock the challenging difficultyDemon's souls is the hardest game i have based on its standard difficulty. I've finished it 6 times and its rather easy now. Ninja Gaiden Sigma/2 on any difficulty above the standard setting is harder then DS though.

I'm finding Dragon Age: Origins to be really hard even on the normal setting. My party kept on getting massacred, so I had to switch it to easy. The story, collecting cool armor and weaposn, and doing all the quests is the engaging part of the game for me so I don't mind if the battles are much easier now.

Doesn't change the fact that the game is very hard. I can't even imagine how difficult it must be on the toughest setting.
Demon's Souls is hard in a punishing way. Demon's Souls is just flat out hard.
eh, this generation there hasn't been that many difficult games. Ninja Gaiden Sigma wasn't that difficult for a hack-n-slash, and sigma 2 was WAY better in terms of quality.
some pretty difficult ones to check out tho,
devil may cry
devil may cry 3
castlevania: circle of the moon
castlevania: order of ecclesia
super ghouls 'n ghosts
odin sphere is pretty difficult for an action-rpg and I played it on normal, I can't imagine it on hard.
the Contra series (contra 4 for this gen)
DS is too hard, forces me not playing it anymore.... why would anyone wants to play harder games anyway?Dogswithguns
You do realise this is the PS3 board right? The legacy forums are a bit higher up :Deh, this generation there hasn't been that many difficult games. Ninja Gaiden Sigma wasn't that difficult for a hack-n-slash, and sigma 2 was WAY better in terms of quality.

you do realize that I listed odin sphere (ps2 game), contra 4, and order of ecclesia (all from this generation). AND THEN you do realize before I stated that, I said "this generation there hasn't been that many difficult games". I felt like at least discussing some difficult games regardless of the platform, instead of claiming some ps3 titles to be difficult when they're not. I feel like I at least contributed more than you have -_-
edit: sorry, actually you didn't even list any games LOL. you just mentioned DMC (which I'm assuming dmc4 since you have to beat it a few times for the harder difficulties). And even then DMC4 is a joke compared to 1 and 3.
Over coming a difficult challange you have to work for = a sense of achievement?[QUOTE="Dogswithguns"]DS is too hard, forces me not playing it anymore.... why would anyone wants to play harder games anyway?zarshack
Thanks for the tips. ...and the other tips on top of this too. ...I should try harder. I will. :)
Honestly Aside from Cheap Deaths, I didn't feel Demon's Souls was the hardest game I've played. It is quite challenging however for its standard difficulty. I think these games are as hard or even harder however, Older gen titles mostly cause games nowadays hold your hand throughout.
Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne(PS2)-honestly one of the harder turn-based RPGs I've played in awhile(but awesome!)
Ninja Gaiden Sigma
Contra: Shattered Soldier(PS2)
DMC 3
Ninja Gaiden 2
Mmmm, Demon's Souls is not that hard... :S
Im in New Game++ (still need to learn some spells to get the platinum) and the 3 games where kinda easy actually... just a couple of places where the game is challenging at best... (5-2 and some black phantoms... thats it...)
I find games like Wipeout HD and Killzone 2 waaaaaaaaaaaay more difficult... maybe i just suck at those games :P

dooooood! I never knew shin megami tensei games were hard. Just recently I started checking out strange journey because it looks pretty badass. Now I've been wondering if I should check out the persona, digital devil saga, and nocturne.

I would def recommend Nocturne...The game is very deep and Bosses will keep you on edge there is very little room for trial and error during the fights. At the time I had it I had the Double-Jump Strategy guide(Which sometimes goes for more than the game lol) But don't let that deter you from playing this awesome game
DS is too hard, forces me not playing it anymore.... why would anyone wants to play harder games anyway?DogswithgunsBecause it's harder to master the game. It being harder to master, it means that when you have, its a lot more satisfying. Playing an easy game means nothing sometimes - if a game is easy, anyone can do it.
