It may drop price in a couple of years if your lucky. As of now it's the best deal all around on the market for what you get.jimm895
Couple of years???? :(I know is the best deal all around , but since where I live there are no blu ray movies ,and dont have a wireless router , I just want it for gaming :( and I dont want a 360 . . . nor a Wii
I want a PS3 , but $600 is just too much , i know its got so much stuff in it , but I´ll only use it for gaming . So , do you think there will be a price drop soon ?? I know Sony is already losing money for each PS3 sold , How much would it dropped? 100 dollars??blackhorsemen
Get a job ya bum
in australia its rrp is $1000 ROFL i want one too, i feel your pain.
well good news is there are cheaper bundles and small price rips already!
JB HI FI i saw the other day was selling them for $890
EB GAMES had a special with a ps3 and a free first party game for $947
also i asked an EB clerk and he said with the current market they will be around $700 by christmas (althought i dont trust him its good to hear)
i belive it will go downa little more by the endo of the year to compete, half year/holiday sales, blu ray costs cheaper.

Wait until xmas time and buy one then. It will have some good games and you will likly have more money.
There will not be a real price drop this year for several reasons.
First and foremost Sony counts units shipped from Factory to Warehouse as 'sold' and puts them on the books for that fiscal time-frame. (Before you flame me it's just the way companies do things go look up their published reports).
They also said that over 35% of that stock is in warehouses and until it clears they cannot drop the price for that batch of units because they have filed their financial statements for the year regarding them.
Next big issue is even if they do clear out those units they have told investors the projected losses based on decreasingcosts of the PS3. In order to meet those projections they simply cannot afford to drop the price and incur additional losses per unit.
Now having said all that there is one option that I personally bet will come into play this Christmas. Sony will begin to ship PS3's without the Emotion Chip world wide, and by removing that they could drop the price $50 and no incur any additional losses. Personally I do not consider that a real price drop though since they are in fact selling less for less.
donno but i got a friend that just got locked up and wants to sell his ps3 and 6 games for 400 bucks:Dmunsoned
PM me if he's willing to ship it.
