DOA4 looks very nice, though it wasn't a huge imporvement over DOA3.Â
Graphically, the screen captures for VF5 look amazing, we'll have to see in play. Specifically, I worry that my 720p/1080i TV is going to play the game at 1080i, which may not look as smooth (due to rapid motion) as it would in 720p.
Anyway, as far as gameplay goes, DOA is basically a pretty game of (rock-paper-scissors) with its counter system. The basicd moves are pretty, and the action flows well, but it isn't that deep of a fighter.Â
VF is significantly more open with ways to counter and approach an opponenet. Because of this, it will take you longer to become very good. On the flip side, only very rarely do upsets happen in VF. The better player almost always wins. IN DOA, if you can pull a well timed counter (which can somtimes just be a lucky guess) you can flip the script on your opponent, and then finish them off with a combo or two. This leads to a little bit more freinzied action, and a more hopeful environment for new players, as they might be able to knock off a grand master, where that doesn't happen in VF.
So there you go, know yourself and what kind of a gamer you are, and make a decision.
VF5 is the definitive 3d fighting experience. It gets no better on any console or in any arcade, only fanboys will say differently. VF has always been the best.
I don't know anything about VF5, but as far as DOA4 is concerned, there is no way you would ever defeat a "Grand Master" I have been onlne with it & 5 times in a row, I was destroyed without getting a single hit on my opponent. I have never been online with it again. I'm not great at the game, but i'm not terrible either. Some poeple learn everything about this game & will take you to school & teach you a terrible lesson in defeat. Besides that, it is an awesome game, looks awesome, plays awesome, cool moves, coolinteraction with the environment.DOA4 looks very nice, though it wasn't a huge imporvement over DOA3.Â

lets put it this way, if you played DOA2 and above at all before, then DOA4 is more of the same, i didnt really see much of a improvement when I rented it at Blockbusters, so I didnt buy the game but everyone is different. I have DOA3 and ultimate and I see 4 wasnt that leap in the series I was looking for.xboxps2cubeOnline Play is the major difference, and whats the difference between VF4 AND VF5, better graphics! This was another of Gameinformer's complaints, its basically the same game, they should have added online for VF5. Hope the 360 version will!
I wouldn't call tekken an easy to master button masher. I'd say tekken is halfway between Soul Calibur and VF. I think Soul Calibur is one of the best 3d fighters because it is mash-friendly for people that don't know how to play but also pretty compled for those that DO know how to play. Someone mashing has no chance vs someone skillful in parrying and knowing the game.
I haven't played a VF game in a long time but I'm sure it won't have a hard time beating out DOA4. I've played ALOT of DOA4 and it is okay, the series has always been a smudge above mediocre. If you want an arcade fighter, I'd say Soul Calibur is the best choice, not DOA. DOA has a nice reversal system but it is extremely flawed. Someone that plays the game in and out can just play defense all day reversing since the whole system just requires u to know which attacks are high(p/k)/low(p/k).
DOA4 is better, It has online play and vastly bigger interactive environments to fight in compared to VF5 square arenas! I just got my new Gameinformer and they rated VF5 8/10, saying the lack of online play is a major blow. You can just wait for the 360 version of VF5, it will most likely include online, plus achievements are always fun!Cubs360

Um. Neither have online.
Anybody have a link to this, I don't see why they sega wouldn't put online in the 360 version, after all Microsoft has done all the work of building an online system so it'll be alot easier! Isn't there a rule that games like these have to have online play for 360?[QUOTE="Cedmln"][QUOTE="Cubs360"]DOA4 is better, It has online play and vastly bigger interactive environments to fight in compared to VF5 square arenas! So they will NOT do it on 360.[QUOTE="Cedmln"][QUOTE="Cubs360"]DOA4 is better, It has online play and vastly bigger interactive environments to fight in compared to VF5 square arenas! DOA4 is a great game but I kinda got bored of it. Im not to sure how VF5 will b. It seems technically superior in all ways except no online. Your choice....
Oh yea and I like the huge environments in DOA, always nice to smash ppl, in, through, or off of things. The sqaure limited arenas in VF5 dont appeal to me at all.
