*Any bashing and it will be reported*

I thought I was gonna love the same so I went and pre-ordered the $200 bundle. but honestly, like i have no friends anyway. how much fun can i have playing alone? sure theres online but ill still be alone. lol. unless i go around college asking ppl if they'll play rock band with me.

but i mean. its a lot of money. especially since i read this one post this one guy said about rockband and the price drop on amazon.com. well gamespot is releasing it at $200. and basically the guy said, theres so many other things u can do with $200 then spend it on a game thats just plastic. PLASTIC. and then u get another rockband in a year or 2 when instruments will be out of date. like they're milking you for your money. idk about everyone else but i dont know if i see the benefit in this anymore :? Guitar Hero 3 sounds great compared to this now.. even tho Rockband has Metallica's "one" supposedly. But what is that supposed to do. one song compared to extreme guitar playing that is GH.

Rock band has its benefits in a fun thing to do as to make a band and compete i guess. but its multiplayer, even tho u can do single tours. rock band has the awesome guitar with an extra 5 frets still. but also, i got a 27 inch tv, and imagine 3 note charts on there.. the screen is crowded. seriously.

guitar hero 3 tho seems too competitive. and its the thing we've known to realize, single guitar which we're used to but when will it get tiring hitting those same 5 fret buttons over and over (same with rock band i guess). I think the new creators of GH3 is ruining it honestly. the competitive battles that will take place. like Wtf. sure, challenging, but its gonna be even MORE aggrivating.

wth is the point?

someone try to convince me what choice is better. screw it all together, rock band, or guitar hero 3.

Oh, by the way, the bundle was officially announced at not $200, but $170 instead, just so you know. This includes the game, 1 guitar, drums, and mic.

I'm gonna go with Guitar Hero 3 for ps3. Rock band sounds cool and all. But I dont have 2 or 3 other friends sitting around my house all the time to consistantly play it. I understand that it has a 1 player mode, but its obviously meant for multiplayer. For my money, I'll go with the proven game, use the new online multiplayer when i want to play with others, and save the extra hundred bucks for one of the many other games coming out next month.

It would make a pretty sweet party game, but, at 170-200 bucks, you dont have alot left for beer money. :D

abeautifullmind, then why did gamestop tell me the other day that the whole bundle is gonna cost me like $200 something. I mean plus the tax.

I rly cant decide on what the hell im getting. its true, i dont have friends that are willing to play this forever. its just gonna be used to one player with me. if i played online with rockband then i got some ppl. but who says ill get ppl and be on with them the whole time?? thats just hard to get.

and its true, u could do a lot with that saved money. i got a few pre orders i have to take care of. if I were to get Guitar hero 3 (as much as I am against the way it changed), i still got money to pay off another game like Killzone 2, or star wars: force unleashed, or metal gear solid 4 when its coming out.

Well if you aren't going to play it with friends often, I'd scrap the whole idea of getting it. It's really more for playing with three other friends frequently, which is why it appeals to me so much.

I'm getting GH3 with the guitar and I'll use that guitar for Rock Band if I decide to get the game. This choice is based on the number of songs outta the box. GH3 is promising a ton more than Rock Band and I'd rather not have to buy extra tracks.

well theres gonna be purchasable tracks on both games im sure. rock band just has the extra set of solo frets which look cool. and i dun like the guitar hero 3 controller anyway. but honestly. guitar hero 3 might b more fun still... =\
but its not like u can create a character, correct me if im wrong. u choose from the ones that ar ein the game. in ROck band u can create ur own characters and ur own band name, band logo. but yeah.. u need friends to play with.

what if ur friends arent online when u r? what then

every major record label in the US and Europe i think is giving GHIII support, Guitar Hero is a proven game, and plus you'll probably be able to play the old GH games using the new guitar on PS3 so thats even better. Rock Band just seems not as well implemented, especially if you don't plan on getting the drums or mic Guitar hero is much better suited.

The name isn't lazy, it refers to being able to play every position in a rockband rather than just a guitar and to me Rock Band sounds much cooler name wise than Guitar Hero III....... But i'll probably just get Guitar Hero 3 and get rock band around christmas time or something i'm not sure.

Do you realize Rock Band is made by the same developers that made Guitar Hero 1 and 2? And Guitar Hero 3 is being made by a completely different developer?

Rock Band has the experience of Frequency, Amplitude, Guitar Hero 1, and Guitar Hero 2 behind it, all developed by Harmonix. So in terms of proven game, I would give it to Rock Band.

Guitar Hero 3 is Activision attempt to buy off someone else's success.

I was just going to post what Sage put up. Personally, I'm getting Rock Band because I just think it will be more fun, overall. But, it depends on your style. My friends are really into playing all of the difficult metal songs on 2 and getting amazing scores and stuff so they're more excited about GH:III. I, on the other hand, am not as good. I mean, I can play all of the main songs on expert and pass them, get 5 stars on quite a few and all, but I'm not as obsessed over getting amazing scores as them, so I just think Rock Band fit me better. As far as the thing about the pricing I read it right here on the site...

http://www.gamespot.com/news/6180056.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=newstop&tag=newstop;title;1

So, I'm not sure about the Gamestop thing. They could have just given you their information on pricing based on pre-conceived, rumored pricing and the store worker was just mis-informed that they were set, official prices.

I'm sure Guitar Hero III will be fun, but I just have a feeling that Rock Band fits my tastes better.

You're missing the fact that Neversoft (Activision) was also an integral part of GH1 and GH2 and they're still around for GH3.

Also what he meant by the proven name is when you ask a random person about music video games you'll hear DDR and Guitar Hero.

what he said!

GH3= Guitar...

Rock Band= Guitar... when you've had enough... drumms... when you feel like it... microphone.

MTV supporting with original soundtracks versus GH covers... seems like an easy choice for me.

You can do the same thing in Rock Band as in GH3... and much much more. Rock Band ftw!

lol, what there Rock Band is made by them!! of course i knew that, but they got bought out or somethign and now there working at EA or whoever is publishing the game. I'm just saying that Guitar Hero 3 is a tried and true formula and will do better than rock band, it will more likely have a more longevity than Rock Band, and as far as integration goes with the peripherals go we still don't know how Rock Band plays or how the genera llayout of the game is.

GH3 is a sequel (probably the best of the 3 so far) so we know its gonna rock (no pun intended) of course if you always have a bunch of friends lying around the house who like singing/drumming/guitaring :P rock band might be better. But it just hasn't shown anythign special really, except for tying together 3 different games into one.

It's worth it to me. I have frieinds over quite a bit and Rock Band is a great way for all of us to play. I'm antisipating lots of downloadable content and sequels will make use of the intruments as well. The initial investment might be pricey for one game but it's worth it to me.

i plan to buy GH III first. Then when they start selling the Rock band parts individually, I'll buy the game and the drums. I plan to get the new Singstar too, and depending on the mic for that, I may or may not buy thr rock band mic

I never had any interest in Rock Band, i'm sticking with the Guitar Hero Series. plus its cheaper. Plus why would you want to sit around playing Rock Band when you can go out and make your own band using REAL instruments

I've always enjoyed Guitar Hero, but more for the challenge and controller-passing competitive addiction when you happen to have a friend over. If you're going to work hard enough to get a bunch of people to huddle around a TV screen and pretend to play instruments while one of you karaokes, you'd might as well just suck it up and join a real band. GH is fun and all, but Rock Band borders on ridiculous. There eventuallY comes a point when video games attempt to mimic real life so blatantly, you'd might as well just, you know, DO THE REAL THING. Virtual poker anyone?

I'll probably get Rock band with the drumset and maybe buy a guitar later on. But i won't be purchasing the whole darn set! If my friends wants to play along they can bring their own equipment.

It's not like you purchase equipment for your friends in a real band :P so why should i do it in my phantasy band :P

2 things:

1) Rock Bands 170 dollars not 200

2) This isn't even a challenge. Of course I'll be getting the bundle for 170 dollars this winter. Rock Band's gonna blow GH3 outta the water. GH3 is really going to be pretty lame. The only reason i'm getting it is for Through the Fire and Flames. The game overall though is really gonna be lame. Boss battles? Dumb. Changing the interface from the original? lame. Battle Mode? Weak. Rock Band rules

I'm going to get the Rock Band pack with drums, guitar and microphone.

I don't want to sing, but I want to play guitar and drums.

Guitar Hero III doesn't sound like an evolution of the series. I might play it, but I'm really looking forward to Rock Band.

i dont think gh3 will be that bad. and i already play real guitar. so it does seem kinda strange buying plastic ones if u think about it

I really like the idea of Rock Band. Especially if you get friends over and then after a few brews.....rock on! I'll probably get both. I'm just hoping that the Guitar Hero guitar if b/c compatible with all the other games!

Exactly! I was also pumped for Rock Band, but seeing gameplay footage of it, and realising that i only have one friend that likes to play rhythm games, made me change my mind. I was going to buy Guitar Hero III and i am just going to stick with that. Besides, Guitar Hero's songlist>>>>>>>>>> Rock Bands.

It feels like they make you pay for the good stuff with Rock Band.

I'm getting Rock Band 1st. The guitar looks much nicer (notice I say LOOKS, because obviously I haven't seen it first hand) and I like the idea of the all in 1. I'm not trying to get into the whole "make a band" thing. I just think it will be cool to play around with all the different options. Maybe I can get my wife into playing some drums now and then, or bass if I get a second guitar. I may get GHIII too at some point, but probably game only if they ever offer it. I'm just personally more excited about Rock Band because of the master tracks and the fact that Harmonix is making the game. They've always put out pretty quality stuff. All that coupled with the promised weekly downloadable content for a year makes Rock Band a no-brainer for me.

[QUOTE="boofa_2001"]I'm getting Rock Band 1st. All that coupled with the promised weekly downloadable content for a year makes Rock Band a no-brainer for me.XxHammerFallxX

its just the fact if u got the ppl tho. i mean its still tons of money for playing those 'options' by yourself.

The way I see it, with Rock Band, I don't have to buy Sing Star and have a bunch of crappy pop songs I care nothing about for a few good songs. I can just get my bad singing fix from Rock Band. In which case, its not any more than buying both GHIII and Sing Star. Besides, I have a good job and don't buy that many games in total, so the $170 is no big deal to me. Especially considering I pre-ordered from Amazon and got it with no tax and no shipping fees.

Just buy Rock Band with one guitar (or the drums) and call it a day. The Rock Band guitar has more features than the Guitar Hero one, so if you end up getting both GH and RB, then you have all the features of both games covered. I honestly think RB will be better than GH, even if you just stick with one instrument.

There's no reason to buy the full bundle if you're not gonna be playing with friends. Keep in mind that GH is MUCH more fun with friends, so either way you're basically buying a party game that you'll play by yourself. Who knows. Maybe when people hear how much fun it is, you'll make some new friends when they want to try it out.

Also, Harmonix (the developers of GH and GH2, in addition to Frequency and Amplitude) are developing Rock Band. That pedigree alone is worth more than the Guitar Hero name.

eye of judgement is a way better deal for 70 bucks you get the eyetoy, battle map, 30 cards, and a blu-ray game.

yeah but who wants a damn card game. its pokemon version 2.0. lol and must i say, offtopic?
and i agree with both babystapler and boofa_2001.

but a question for babystapler. dont u think that would be a rip off just buying one instrument. because its more money that way.i think its $70 for drums and $60 for the guitar now? or idk. but then $60 for the game, and thats above $170 already. you know.
