I have to ask this, but has anyone else had a PS3 hardware failure? My HDMI port just completely stopped working (intermittent video, loud hisses for audio). I know that the PS3 is supposed to be extremely reliable... I'm just curious to see how horrible my luck is :P.drbob33
yup same thing happened to me. if your wondering its happened to several other people to, i wasn't sure at first if it was the hdmi port because ps3 has been very reliable. there are others but the number is still relatively small
my first two ps3's broke and i had to send them in. im on my thirdGunningGuru
thats just unheard of
though i have heard of gamers on that other system on there 4th, 5th, all the way up to 12th. I heard after 12 the warranty is no good anymore LOL. 12 wow
Eh, I am on my second 360 too, so I'm not hating on the PS3.
I just know that everyone I know has been through a minimum of 1 360 and that I don't know anyone else who had a PS3 die.
People always get a good laugh out of my ridiculously bad luck with electronics... oh well, things happen. ha.
Mine hasn't broke yet. After a year owning it and some huge hours logged into games like Oblivion, and Final Fantasy XII it's still going. I worry about it sometimes though because the thing gets frickin HOT when it's been on for a while. I tend to leave it on even when I'm not playing too, to keep the controllers charged, so I just know one day it's going to die on me.

Hi, I didnt wanna start new topic, but ill ask this offtopic question quick :)
When you buy new standart ps3 from a store. do you get a recharger? or do you need to buy 1 yourself?
if your talking about the controller
it comes with a chord that you plug in to the ps3 and it charges, it can charge while your playing, or you can charge it on your PC or laptop. (if your not talking about the controller, i dont know what your talking abotu)

yup, everyone read it! and share!
I've never had my ps3 die, neither have a couple friends, but I wouldn't rule out the possibility of it happening. If it has to do with hdmi, that is not uncommon to other devices that use it as well. HDMI is kind of picky, you can remember when if you had bent pins in some computer plugs, you wouldn't get whatever you were plugging in to work. You have to be gentle with hdmi outlets and cables. Hopefully they'll make more reliable ones. That's why I would suggest when you invest in hdmi cabling, get the more recognized brands because there are cheap ones out there. It's enticing to go cheaper cuz hdmi cables are expensive, but it's expensive hardware that's at stakeMujambo
Yes my friend, I know. I shelled out the cash for a Monster 1000 cable, which is supposedly the best HDMI cable available. It worked for my upconvert DVD player and an HD-DVD player before getting assigned to the PS3. I told the Sony rep that I used their cable of course (I don't want to void my warranty... heh) but I use the best that money can buy.
