anybody finds red dead redemption 'meh' so far?

don't get me wrong, this game looks amazing--the setting, plot itself is rare in games nowadays- western, cowboys, horses... or anybody here finds it just a grand theft horse? and i'm also wondering how will the story be in this kind of setting. looks like the hype machine is working again, ala heavy rain, god of war3, etc. , which reminds me that i kinda hate the hype machine:P

The story i think is something like people have kidnapped your family or something along those lines. The gameplay will be off the chainz

So let me get this straight...you think the setting is awesome...but it is meh because it is a GTA ripoff? It is made by the same company that makes GTA games R*...That would be like downgrading Fallout 3 because it used some ideas from Oblivion...I am pretty hyped for this game personally and hope they can pull off all the ambitious ideas they want to include.

I've never played a GTA game, so any similarities this will have to that series won't bother me at all. As far as excessive hype, I'm perfectly happy to wait until it comes out and see if it lives up to the hype, and then decide whether to buy it or not. I'm really interested in it right now. The Old West setting looksintriguing.

maybe this game will be one of the better western 3rd person shootergames, i havent tried any other western games except for demos which didnt catch my interest

I think it looks awesome. I'm not really sure about the story though...I've never been a fan of Rockstar's storylines, but this doesn't have to do with modern day gangsters, drugs and ****, so it may be good.

I could care less about RDR, to be honest. It's apparently very repetitive, most of the missions boil down to: Kill or Don't Kill, and the online aspect looks very plain to me. I'm used to MMO's and stuff, forming parties, taking on PvE and PvP aspects of the game, so RDR's foray into its online capabilities doesn't do a thing for me.
