anybody tried this on their ps3 ????

I've searched and read a lot to try to do this but couldn't got it to work. I have dvd backups made with dvd shrink in my external drive so in a PC I open the video_ts.ifo file from the list of files on the folder where the backup is and it opens the movie dvd structure like just reading it's original dvd-rom the rest of the files will open certain scenes only. When I'm trying to open this video_ts.ifo file on my playstation3 it won't run the movie. Does anybody know if there is a way I can run a backup with the menus and all the DVD features from my external drive. I was thinking maybe there was a DVD decoder that just made one file and when I opened this one file it could run the movie but I don't know hope someone can help me watch DVDs from my external with the DVD features and menus benefit.

Why should I? All my post did was notify that there are only two ways of viewing videos on your PS3. If it was illegal, then why would Sony allow it?
