PSN being down hasn't bothered me as my wife just had our first child so i've been in hospital, but as soon as I heard the news I just didn't want to take the risk and have ordered new cards and put a block on the old ones.

meanwhile Steam it is, I luv my ps3 gaming too much to be to pissed off though.

According to Sony, the 3-digit security code wasn't stored, so they don't have it. I haven't cancelled my debit card, but I'm gonna watch it like a hawk.

Not yet, my bank is pretty far from where I live but I plan doing it soon and having another card and probably bank account in general issued to me. It didn'thit me until today that my credit card info was in jeopardy. I hadn't used psn or purchased anything in so long I forgot I had my credit card info on there.

Congrats on becoming a DAD :D , that's the most beautifull thing that can happen in a mans life.

On the toppic, i didn't, i just contacted my bank and explained to them what is happening, and they assured me that they will keep a close eye.

i had my debit card on there, the good thing is that the 3 digit security code , you know the one on the back is stored. most liklely you will get an email from your bank or sony (FAKE) telling you to give them the data for whatever reason.

I cancelled the card I previously used on PSN and changed all my passwords. I admit I was foolish to use the same password for PSN as my email, now I have a unique password for every account. Very inconvenient though and I'm not happy about it.

I canceled my credit card that I had with PSN and asked for a replacement from my bank. I would rather do this now then have issues later. However I must say that this is the only account that I had linked to that credit card, so it wasn't that difficult. I can see where if someone has multiple accounts linked to their credit card where it could be a real pain to rearrange everything.

I did for my main accounts. After hearing that the data was encrypted I wish I hadn't. Just got paid today now I gotta move money the old fashioned way with checks until my new cards come in.

No. I called the credit card that is linked to alert them. I also (per the Sony email) called one of the credit score bureaus to set up a fraud alert (now they have to call me before credit will be issued in my name)

Congrats on your baby! :)

I use PSN cards, so I don't have to worry about my card info being stolen. I figured something like this would happen eventually, so I played it safe and bought PSN cards. lol

If i did use a credit card though, I would have either canceled it or got it replaced right away.

I was always hesitant to put my CC info on there for this reason. I mean why would anyone do it when they offer psn cards. I could care less if i cant charge exact amount and if anyone that was using that as there main reason, in retrospect was it worth it? I mean really, who cares if you have 4 or 5 dollars left over, just let it sit there till something else pops up on psn that you want.

I started using my Debit Card on PSN when PSN cards weren't in good circulation and I couldn't find any. Good thing I would only input my info to add money in my wallet and then right after delete it. Never store your Debit / Credit card information anywhere online whether it be a console or a website etc...

There's no reason to, there's no indication that cc infos are stolen and even if, they're encrypted

Nope and I don't see why very many people care. I would be more concerned if I had a debit card on there, since those sometimes aren't as easy to get your money back from. However, I've had someone purchase tuition with my credit card for a few thousand dollars from some university I've never heard of, so I called my credit card company and they instanstly reversed the charges and sent me a new card. I usually check my statement online every few days anyways.

What I am more concerned with is my other information getting stolen such as name, address, birth date, ssn, etc. That type of information can be used to open all sorts of accounts that I would never know about until bills get turned over to collection agencies and you get dinged on your actual credit score. Most people don't check their credit score very often, since it usually costs money or you can get a free report once a year. By then the damage could be done which you would then have to spend considerable time fighting and getting the marks reversed.

I had a new debit card reissued solely for precautionary reasons. I've had my account infiltrated and robbed before and I would not like to repeat that experience.

If I had done my debt card, I would have gotten it reissued, too. But I had my CC on there, so I'm just going to monitor it. I also changed my CC alerts to email me on all purchases over 50 bucks. Should be good enough.

I had gotten a new card probably a few weeks before this happened so I was ahead of the game,...due to losing my cards.

pfft. i aint worried, like i said the odds are extremely unlikely. i laugh at people who went through the trouble, and i lmao off at the dude who deleted his email and got a new password along with SWITCHING ACCOUNTS. WOW!! nothing is gonna happen to our info, and my banks good, if anything does happen to my credit i have 60 days to report it, and they already know about the psn fiasco so there wont be any trouble. like i say, those who stress and think negatively die prematurely of brain tumors and aneurysms
