I was hyped up for Lair since I saw the first trailer. Then the game came out and I read a lot of reviews, blaming this game for a lot of things. A lot of reviewers pointed out sloppy controls, chaos and weak story. Then I decided Ill buy the game anyway, I've finished it and I have to agree that you have to get used to the control scheme and you can find some minor draw backs here and there. But overall this is a GREAT GAME. I would give it honest 8,5/10. Fight mechanics are robust, you can do basically anything you would dream of riding a dragon. Six axis controls is the thing that really dragged me to the game. Yes, control scheme is a bit complicated and you can get frustrated a bit learning its pros and cons but on the other hand you can do SO MUCH during a fight. Graphics and soundtrack also get a +. Especially in cut scenes things look and sound smooth. It can really show off the potential of PS3. So why did this game received such poor marks in most reviews ? Maybe the reviewers were just too weak to master the game and get the real honey out of it ? Anyone else enjoyed this game ?

i had this game and i liked it, way more better than reviewers were saying people were moaning that sixaxis was not responsive enough i found it fine, then there is a new update to play by analog stick. with great graphics and presentation. this game is good i give it an 8/10

I've heard alot of people say its really good and alot say its really bad. I honestly am too scared to buy it. I'm gonna rent it one of these days. Sony release a little bundle thing on the playstation store that makes the sixaxis control optional with analog control. Also comes with new dragon skins/designs or something.

7.5 in my books. I actually loved the sixaxis controls and when I tried the analogue controls the game felt uncontrollable. The game was decent but lacked polish (screen tearing, framerate, pop-in issues). I enjoyed it but I shoulda waited until the game was cheaper.

Yeah, it's universally hated, but I enjoyed myself.

I bought Lair the day it came out and I still have, and play it, today.

Thankfully I'm not someone who cares about reviews or other people's opinions, otherwise I would have missed out on a nice experience.

Good to know that you guys have similar view on things : ) I guess nowadays you can't just trust a review, even a bunch saying the same thing :/ (I want the old days of gamespot back, the old crew was much more reliable, you could see that they are as much hardcore gamers as we are, now its a bit of a shame :///// , but that may be just my opinion).

I just bought that game yesterday. lol. I beat the first level only, though. So far, pretty fine game once you download the analog control patch, the game plays like a godsend.

Same here, but not because of the reviews. Just seems like the type of game id beat in 10 hours and never play again. I just cant bring myself to spend $60 on a game like that. I lloved, but refused to buy, Uncharted too.

I'd like to try it. But it seems like a big gamble on a game that's still $60. If it dropped in price I'd pick it up.

The game wasn't really that bad, but it wasn't all that amazing either. The controls worked but everything happens kind of slow. The game didn't tell you things like if you wait a couple of seconds before shooting a fireball again it will be bigger and do more damage. It didn't tell you that in order to do the 180 turn around you needed to dip your controller down first and then pull up. Most of the enemies can be beaten by fire balls. Yes you can get a higher score if you do physical attacks and so forth, but you only had a certain amount of time before an objective was failed so that kind of felt limiting there. Pausing the game takes forever. It was cool how you could blow up a city in one level and dodge the spot lights in another. The boss battles were really annoying. The only thing there is to do after you beat the game is to go back and try to get a higher score to get medals. These medals unlock commentary on each level of the game and the music as well. From listening to the commentary, it doesn't sound like this game was done in a deceitful manner, they just had trouble keeping the team together and the same people working on it all the way through. It would be cool for them to try something like this again, just make sure you have got all the same people from start to finish.

The controls were my main issues with the game, once they fixed it and added rumble, it turned into a decent game. for me it was good, nit great
