Anyone else hate online FPS?

I thought it was only COD that was terrible online but literally every FPS I play,except for Battlefield, is extremely mediocre. I try to do well in COD, Killzone etc. but random BS is preventing me from having any fun. It seems online gaming on console has yet to be perfected. There's such so much lag and other randomness. I just see no point in playing online anymore(at least for FPS games). Anyone else feel this way?

I don't have any problems at all playing FPS....in fact Resistance 1, 2, Call of Duty 4 and WaW have excellent online !I don't have any lags at all...it depends on your internet speed and if you're on wireless.

Killzone 2 also is great online. :)

If you say you suck with controllers....well...that's up to you, but that doesn't make a "horrible online multiplayer"....... ;). also, don't bring the PC comparison in the PS3 forum please.....that's for system wars. ;)

As long as it's not rigged by someone, it's pretty fun, even when I'm losing.

Is it the same for you when you play PC games? Personally, I love playing online PC games, but with console games I have a hard time trying to control my character with the analogue sticks. Pvt_r3d

I like Killzone 2 multiplayer. I'm not great, but I'm mostly above .500 these days, which isn't bad...

...compared to CoD4, where I can't seem to kill anyone. It's too fast-paced and you die quickly, I can't really get going in a game, I die so often...

I plan on trying Bad Company's, which llooks great, and Far Cry 2's multiplayer soon enough.

The only fps I play online is CoD 4 because im good atit .

When it comes to others like Halo,Bad Company,Killzone 2 ect ect.. I do not enjoy playing them online for some reason.

Yet for some odd reason I think Bad Company has a more enjoyable story mode then what cod 4 had butI hate the online in it.

(not saying cod 4 had a bad story)

I don't love them, but I don't hate them either. I'll occasionally play Killzone or Halo and I'm getting Modern Warfare 2, but I really could care less about FPS. I pretty much just get them and play them because everyone else does.

I love online FPS.

I prefer third-person shooters, if anything.

I find that I play it more when I have friends to play with (ie: online friends)

But otherwise, I don't play online that much. Lately, it's mostly been just BF1943. But others, I tend to steer away from the BS that comes with it. Unintelligent morons with mics screaming in your ear who take it way too far and too seriously.

Also, most FPS games today don't have any substance and get boring pretty quickly.

I hate FPS in general.

Often, how good a person rates an online game is directly related to how good he is at it. If you win a lot at something, you tend to like it. If you constantly get stomped, you tend to shy away from it. I was pretty good at Halo 2 (xbox, I know) and Crash Commando online, so I tended to play them a lot. I horribly suck at Street Fighter II: HD Remix, so I tend to stay offline when playing it.

I always like Single Player more, but some games can be ok, like COD 4 for example is great!

i think FPS's are probably the best games to play online, look at COD4 and killzone 2, theres many more too

Uncharted 2 has changed my mind and i think 3rd person works better online :)

yes, admittedly, playing shooters online comes with its share of frustration; either due to my mistakes or things outside my control. Also, i have no intention of generalizing the entire genre and its online component under a positive light as not every shooter is tailored to my preferences. But at the end of the day, the joy i get from playing shooters that i do find appealing outweighs whatever frustrations that may and do arise.

I've never had any complaints, but to be fair I've only played Killzone 2 and Unreal Tournament 3 online.

to all those that suck with a controller its ok, it takes time i guess lol i love all online games though (console or PC) if suck with a certain control type ijust stick it out till i learn

I enjoy the experiences if there's an incentive to unlock better weapons and upgrades, and if the maps are cool and balanced. It's the little strings of bad luck that I don't like. Like if I try to get my sniper class upgraded to get the next sniper rifle or c4 and for some odd reason everyone on the other team seems to just know I want to get sniper kills for points so they all go after me. It's crazy how a sniper on the other team will camp an area for over half the game without anyone on my team helping me to take him out (in order to make securing an objective easier), yet when I just want to simply get points and sniper kills the entire other team rushes me. And It's also annoying when I get shot when behind a marginal amount of cover (being my teamate) yet my teamate will walk away without a scratch despite being right out in the open! It's the little things that can't be explained like this that make me frustrated. But hey, there's about 50 reasons i LOVE online shooters too.

I would also like to add that BFBC2 to me, is the first actual online multi game where I don't feel like anyone is blatently taking the cheap route for the entire game and getting away with it. There is a solution to every problem you have on the game and if someone is being gay then they will eventually get theirs. I think this is also the first game I've played that was legitimately FUN and not just addictive. COD was addictive because all my friends were leveling up too, so I wanted to compete and keep up with them, but doing so proved to be frustrating, and felt like a task. BFBC2 lets you choose from land, sea and air, and within those boundaries there's just so much to choose from. I want to upgrade all my classes, but the options are so diverse that it actually feels like I'm having fun, instead of trying to get x amount of headshots with a certain gun, or run x amount of miles to be able to get a perk. Instead, you get all that stuff just by working your classes and you're actually having fun blowing things up and fixing vehicles, etc... doing it! Stellar!

I used to like them but after playing MW2 (a lot) I have got bored of them.

Really pathetic when you want to win, but your teammates decide they are Rambo and don't use teamwork or just go find a spot to hold up when it's an objective based game. Maybe i am just weird trying to actually win or use teamwork.

That's why you play DeathMatch as opposed to TDM.

I have absolutely no interest in online FPS. Take out the story, the characters, most aspects of the gameplay like exploring, platforming, etc. and then run around with a bunch of 14 year old's taking maximum advantage of every imaginable glitch and spraying ammo at everything that moves. Then get online and complain endlessly about the campers.

Thanks, but I think I'll stick to single player. Single player that's tremendously reduced and cheapened by each and every hour that the developer spends working on creating the multiplayer. Probably a major reason I've been bored with FPS games since the end of the PS2 era.
