I know it's not coming out until April 19, but it's already the end of February now and it's not that far away. I see people talking about their most anticipated games for 2011 all the time, but Portal 2 hardly ever gets mentioned. I'm just wondering, I'll admit I never played the first Portal but I'm extremely excited about this one. Hopefully some people on this forum get it so we can hook up and play some co-op together. But anyway, to restate my question, any other PS3 gamers out there that are interested in this?

Hell yes! Can't wait. I think its awesome that Gabe Newell finally embraced the PS3. If you get the game for the PS3 you also get a code to download it from Steam, and you can play co-op between the two platforms. Pretty awesome if you ask me.

Very interested.

After playing the first one, I have high expectations for Portal 2. I love how the puzzle's really make you do some thinking.

LOL. Don't know bout embrace but money talks. As far as the game is concerned put me in the "not interested" corner. Never played part one but i youtubed it when portal 2 was announced for the ps3. It looked boring as hell with a bunch of square rooms with no real purpose. I understand its a puzzle game but I also know its gonna be 60bucks. Now way for square rooms and a gun that creates holes to travel through.

I'm interested in it, but have a long list of games that I'll likely be getting before it which could hold me back for a year or so.

Lol. Seriously? You watched a youtube video and decided the game is not worth it? Sir, you have NO idea what you're missing. Not only is Portal one of the best puzzle games out there its also the wittiest. The game has more personality than you'd believe. There are very elaborate and complex rooms that take a decent amount of problem solving to navigate. Also, Portal never cost $60. Portal 2 will, but it also has multiplayer and tons more content, so I'm sure its worth it. Square rooms... lol.

Portal is one of those games that no one can hate on. But no one really talks about it, and when its mentioned all the sudden you have a lot of people loving on it. Literally.

I'm extremely stoked for Portal 2, the first one was one of the best games I ever played. Sure, it was only 2-3 hours long but it had some of the best dialogue, genius puzzles and one of the greatest game villains of all time: GLaDOS. I've watched nothing beyond the launch trailer, I wanna go in completely unaware of what lays ahead just like I did with Portal 1.

They like that Sony embraced Steam and will let them do as they want, unlike MS and Live, who won'tlet Valve give out free DLC. Newell is rich enough, and it shows, Valve like to treat their customers well.

I don't know that it's all about money. I mean, money obviously has a lot to do with it, but I think he genuinely wanted to extend his user base in the best possible way. PSN is the most accessible for developers so he's decided to focus his console attention there now that the PS3 has shown that it can be successful. As for the game itself, you should go play the first one; it's free on steam, if i'm not mistaken. It's a lot more than "square rooms with no real purpose". It's a series of legitimately difficult puzzles. The portal gun shoots two different portals that you have to use together to solve the room. The stuff they've come up with is ridiculous. Also the story, tone, and environment is pretty crazy. The first playthrough is just as much a psychologocial test as a mental one; imo.

I never played the first one, but I'm mildly curious about the sequel. Might pick it up in the bargain bin some day.

Portal 2 is going to be releasing at $55 instead of $60 for consoles. Its not a big difference, but its nice.

I'm interested, but I think I'll hold off until it sees a price cut. If it was bundled with another Half-Life game I would be all over it, but $60 for Portal 2 alone I feel is pushing it.

Normally I would agree, but this one is supposed to be a MUCH bigger game. Several hours longer, deeper story, etc... So I'd say it warrants full retail. It all depends on what you want to spend your money on though.

If the game has a phenomenal reception than I'll pick it up at full retail, but I tend to be apprehensive when buying new games without first hearing some feedback from both sides of the fence.

Definitely a pre-order for me. The first one was amazing. Hilarious, creative, unique, etc. Every compliment you can think.

All my friends are picking this up on the PS3 as well since there will be cross-play with Steam users. Plus, Valve even includes a free copy of Portal 2 on Steam! Gabe Newell said it's an "apology" to PS3 users for no Left 4 Dead. Well, I have both of those games on Steam anyway so apology accept, Gabe. :P

From what I understand, if you buy the PS3 version, you get a free voucher code to download the PC version on Steam.

Something to consider if you were leaning one way or the other.

If that's the case then the PS3 version it is, unless there's big price difference. :P Thanks for the heads up.

I am interested. However, I've never played the first and will most likely play that before the 2nd one I'm actually waiting for a further price drop for the orange box on PS3, as soon as that happens I'll play the first portal.
