While the planes handle rather accurately to their real-life counterparts, it's anything but a simulator; this seems to be the most common misconception about Ace Combat games. You essentially control your entire plane using a single analogue stick and use a single button to shoot missiles after you've locked on. Those are pretty much the basics of any recent Ace Combat game. The real experience lies in the action, not the challenges of keeping a plane afloat. Saying that any Ace Combat game is a simulator is like saying that Mario Kart games handle like real automobiles.
#1 no its not a flight similator, you control the plane VERY EASILY, then just shooting people down and such is fun! #2 HECK YA im pumped for it, ive been waiting for two or three years. I was angry when it showed up on the XBOX360 only, sigh...
