YESSSSS, i mean i got a ps3 because i thought it would have as many quality rpgs as the ps2 did, as soon as the final fanastys start coming out i'm running to the store:P

No I'm not tired of FPSs but I do think we need more RPGs and other genres but I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

Thank You! Its about time someone brought up RPGs... I definitely agree. Although I have no complaints with FPS, some (quality) RPG's would be nice.

im pretty sucky at shooters (i like Warhawk though) and it wouldnt be to hard to come out with a good RPG if they can make 15 different shooters.

They need something like Zelda-long journey,fun, great game. i love A/A RPGS (Zelda,FF,etc.)

Yes, one of the main reasons I got a PS3 over 360 was because I don't want only FPS's. Now look.

FPSs appeal to a more mainstream crowd than RPGs (I enjoy a good FPS every once in a while myself), But the RPGs will come. (Im looking at you Fallout 3)........and some others)

Im not getting sick of the good FPS games but lately it seems like companys keep shoveling out one mediocre one after the other. Most dont even compare with COD4, Resistance or UT3. Im really pumped for the RPGs that are coming this year including Final Fantasy XIII, White Knight Chronicles, and Fallout 3

We do need more RPG's, that's for sure! However, RPG's take a lot more effort to make than your average shooter, as they often require branching stories and more artwork to be created and included, as well as mini-games (which seems to be a must these days). They'll start showing up this year and really start picking up speed in the years to follow I think.

I'm not tired of FPS but since when did it become the center of the gaming universe...On the other hand wait because hopefully this year we may get FFXIII, i am so extatic, I cant wait....

Looks like Sony wants to become more popular in the US because FPS is one of the most popular genres there. They seen how popular Halo has become, thats why you're seeing more FPS games being made like Resistance 2 and Killzone 2. And Sony knows how important the american market is. But more RPGs should eventually come because of the demand for them in Japan. But yeah, there's not many RPG's im looking forward to for PS3 besides White Knight and FFXIII. Well FF Versus XIII as well buts thats more of an Action/RPG and we barely know anything about it.

Yes we do need more RPG's .. FPS are kind of taking over at the moment that I don't even know which one to play anymore .. (COD4 FTW tho) .. I think they are putting everything they have into Final Fantasy, that game will consume you, but until then you will have to deal with FPS .. oh and Metal Gear Solid ..

If online play never really took of like it did there might be a smaller market for shooters. I agree we need alot more RPGs.

I agree to the power of a billion. 2007? Year of the FPS. Lets hope that 2008 is the year of the expansive world, or year of the amazing story or staying up till 4am stat building year.

Yes, I need more Action/Adventure and RPGs. I love CoD4, but I can only take so much of it. Devil May Cry 4 can't come soon enough...

I agree and wish Sony would either create or lock up a deal with a game that resembles Fable. I'm no fanboy of any system as I own both a ps2 and xbox. However I don't plan on ponying up the cash for a 360 any time soon, so a game similar to it would be fun!

Um... How does making them realistic dumbing them down?

I'm confused by how adding recoil/spread, limited clip sizes, movement effecting aim, limited health and realistic tactics makes a game dumbed down?

I was a xbox guy last gen and i was always so jealous of the rpgs on ps2... so i went ps3 this time and while i am thrilled to death with it. i NEED me some rpgs son. Not your action / rpg stuff either ( well that's better than nothing ). I mean REAL RPGS PLZ

nope, nothing ever really beats the excitement and fun of a good ole FPS. Or any shooter for that matter, its really the "action" genre that is interesting, they don't have to all be FPS, thrid person is fun as well, and games liek Devil may cry with the fixed angle and the shooting. But nope, Crysis is still my favorite game, i've played through it 4 times and it was completely different every time. It would be nice though to get a good rpg to come out. FF13 looks promising.

shooters are not my cup of tea, but every now and then a good one comes out that I can get into. they have to keep putting them out to capture the casual twitch gamer market though. if the competition becomes the only place to get shooters, PS3 is going to lose a huge market.

I love JRPGs. I'm looking forward to Disgaea 3, Final Fantasy XIII/Versus XIII, White Knight Chronicles, Eternal Sonata and there was a rumor of Atlus making a Shin Megami Tensei game for PS3, even though they already announced Persona 4 for PS2. I'm sure there's more, but they allude me at the moment.

until then, I'm spending time with action/adventure games like Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Heavenly Sword, Ratchet & Clank Future, and Uncharted, along with Rock Band for good measure and a healthy dose of downloadable and PS2 games. it's good stuff.

Yes, I'm sick of all the FPS games. One of the reasons I decided to get a PS3 over the other two systems is because I felt that the console would eventually have the best variety in games. All we've been seeing over the past few months is shooters. Not saying shooters are bad, but come on. It feels like the gaming market is just overflooded in that specific genre right now. But you know what, it's a new year. I expect to see a decent amount of good games (that offer variety) to start coming out for the PS3.

I agree. I remember when they came out often. You would think more would come out being as they aren't that difficult to make and they all don't have to be FF like either. :) Turn based ones are still awesome. :)

Im not a huge fan of traditional RPGs, but one of my favorite games that blew me away was Deus EX, which was BOTH A FPS AND A RPG. I loved that game!!

I never really cared for FPS' myself, but after playing COD4 and Resistance, I'm slowly changing my mind...but I don't think I'll go crazy wit em...a mixture of both is good me thinks!!!

i never said that i dont like FPS either. theyre fun, but its overflowing our choice of games. i dont even remember the last time i played a long rpg game- kingdom hearts 2 on my ps2 perhaps?

I really like FPS, they're a lot of fun. I've never been too big of a RPG fan, but I have enjoyed the odd action RPG. Personally I want more Action/Adventure games to surface on the PS3, Heavenly Sword, Assasin's Creed and Uncharted can only satisfy me for so long. Can't wait for Devil May Cry 4 next month :D.
