All the big games aside from Far Cry 2 seems to be ignoring trophies. The games we bought when they were suppose to have trophies.. lies. I'm so tired of that crap. I bought Saint's Row 2, checked online cus I didn't see trophies, see that the devs went "yeah, nah. no need".

Also, don't say "Trophies suck" or something stupid like that. If you don't like them, don't click topics about trophies...

Yea, I don't like games not having trophies. But I still don't think that Sony should require every game developer to have trophies in their games. If they don't want to include them, I don't think they should have to. Trophies just don't work that well with some games. Sony had said before that were not going to mandate including them, but it seems like they are going to do just that very soon.

Trophies never really did anything for me. I play the game for the game itself, not so that people can see im level 10 with 712731 trophies.

I 100% got bitten by the achievement bug on my 360. For some reason, I have no interest in trophies. In a way I'm glad, because they can be very addictive.

Yeah. It's just too bad gamers these days have ADD that they "NEED" a little pixelated icon in the shape of a trophie to make them feel like they've actually accomplished something.

Nope.... unless you actually get something cool in the game (like the semi trophy system in RFOM and Uncharted), trophies are stupid, time-sucks. What are they good for? So you can brag that you wasted more of your life than someone else for something pointless?

Eh, I can live without 'em. Don't forget, this is new so not all new games will have trophy support. The ones being released in '09 and on probably will.

Every game should have them. I'd prefer a numerical score though :D

I don't care if it had them or it didn't but I want some consistency. Either have trophies in every game like 360 does or don't. This like 1 random game here and there stuff is stupid and a waste of time on the people at Sony's part for even implementing the system to have devs not use it that could have been spent on something else.

Seems to me like an okay number of games have trophies right now, and more are coming out every day. Every Sony owned title WILL have trophies as well.

I would have liked to have seen Trophies in Fallout 3 since the Xbox equivalent gets achievements AND DLC. But oh well, whatever. Good on the Far Cry developers for putting the effort in. Two thumbs up for that. :)

I honestly am not very upset toward some games not supporting trophies. In all honestly, it is a given that Sony produced or published games will have trophies. I have also noticed a trend of high profile third party games also supporting them (Bioshock, Far Cry 2, Dead Space, etc.)

Basically it seems most games I want have them, and if they don't, then that is fine, as I truly believe that games without trophies will be a small percentage in the near future. If you think about it, that would be foolish to just ignore a simple implementation of trophies in third party games if they have to make them in the 360 version (achievements). Why not just implement doing the same thing on the PS3 version to instead earn a trophy instead of gamer points? It is so simple that I don't think it will be overlooked much longer.

Hmmm, I'm pretty sure it's not. From what I've read it definately wont have them on release, at any rate. Hope I'm wrong though.

I remeber they thought it was because there was a screenshot somewhere that had the "trophy unlocked" icon at the top right.

Every week it seems like a couple games get patched with trophies and a couple games get released with trophies. I have to many games to play to get trophies. I'm currently replaying High Velocity Bowling and Eye of Judgment to get some trophies and just started getting trophies on Burnout and still working on some of the Buzz trophies.

I know for the people who love trohies are tired of the lack of it but for me,I could care less.I play games for fun and the game itself.Thats it.I use to be addicted to achievements on the 360 and one day I woke up and figured it out.I am not playing the game for the game.I am playing it for these damn achievements. Now I don't care what level of difficulty I play the game on cause I am free.FREE I say AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.Sorry.The point is I really don't care about them. But in 09 I believe sony is making all game devs implement trophies into their games.

Quit crying because the one game you buy a year dosn't have trophyies in it...

Dead Space, Bioshock, Resistance 2, Motorsotrm: PR, LittleBigPlanet, Blitz: The League 2, SOCOM: Confrontration, NBA Live 09... all these new games have trophies in them.

Eye of Judgement, Linger in the Shadows, Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars, GEON emotions, etc have all trophies aswell ...

Need i go on ? Plenty of games have trophies. Plenty of people have will over 300 trophies already, In the future more games will have trophies.

Every game may not have trophy support but the PS3 still have a nice number of games that have trophies. Tho I am not the one to talk, I rather a dev take their time with polishing the game then to use those resources on trying to implement a trophy system. Because I refuse to play a glitchy half polished game. Trophies or not. Plus most games have in-game achievements which is just as good for me.

The thing about trophies is that it's probably more important to those that own both a 360 and PS3 (which would include me). Despite what both sides (Microsoft and Sony) are saying the gameplay/graphics in multiplatform games are usually the same for both consoles or at least minimal enough to be ignored. I know for me when I decide which console to buy multiplatform games for I end up picking the 360 version most of the time because I feel there is no gameplay difference between the two consoles and I might as well pick the 360 version just to up my achievement score since it's the same price for both.

I enjoy trophies. Unlike most people have said, I don't unlock trophies to brag to people or anything like that, And I have yet to meet someone who does. They simply add replay value to games and I think that's a positive thing. I would've never played through Burnout a second time if it wasn't for trophy support.

To the dude who said trophies are a waste of time- They are objectives you can complete in a game, if you think they are a waste of time then you are in the wrong hobby as all videogames have objectives you complete whether they are a trophy or not.

Here's the thing, if there are fewer games to have trophies then I have more time to collect them given how busy my schedule is. But now since multiply games are getting trophies it's hard to decide which trophies to go after. Because whether you realize it or not it takes a lot of time to get those trophies. That's the problem I had with achievements on xbox, everygame had achievements and I never really knew which achievenment to go after, eventually in the end I just forgot about it all together. It's ok if a game doesn't have trophies, because you know, it'll eventually get patched. Last thing, trophy for general rank in warhawk = freakin impossible!

yeah i agree to this, bragging about trophies doesnt come any good, ur just bragging about how ur wasted your life even more.

and thats really stupid, you buy the games for the games itself, not the trophies to brag for it. its not like u getting any extra cool stuff when u get trophies .

i agree it sucks, i remember when trophies were announced Sony said that ALL the holiday games, exclusives and multitaps would have trophy support. Its not gonna stop me from buying any games, but it adds replay value.

How tough could it have been for them to just code the ps3 games with the same achievements that are in 360 games?

JKnaperek

1) Give it time. You will come across some one. Especially here.

2) Completing these objectives only because you want a gold icon, IS a waste of time. How can I be in "the wrong hobby" if I've been gaming for close to 25 years? Completing objectives unlocked something. Completing an objective that's actually apart of the game, means you actually get something in the game like a secret ending or something. Trying to beat the final stage on ultra hard with only a hand gun with 5 bullets for a trophy icon is just plain stupid. It would also potentially cause laziness with the devs to not actually make something "unlockable" "They can just get a trophy for it!" People are making this into a chore. Trophies create nothing but problems. People's brains explode over leaderboards enough as it is. It adds no value what so ever. You're not actually playing the game to enjoy it or have fun. You're playing it to "get that trophy".

I would've never played through Burnout a second time if it wasn't for trophy support.

JKnaperek

You obviously didn't like the game that much did you?

Do you want a sticker every time you finish a level?

It's funny how hunting trophies is considered a waste of time when video games on the whole are exactly the same thing. We all chose to waste our time different ways. Doesn't make one particularly worse than the other.

Not really, trophy system is still relatively new, this year some games will have them and some wont. Next year majority of titles will have trophy support. I don't really care if a game has trophies or not, I don't really buy a game for trophies but it is a welcome addition and helps with the longitivity of a game.

In that case. Is watching TV a waste of time? Is reading a book a waste of time? Is riding your bike a waste of time? Was typing that message a waste of time?

Trophies make that "waste of time" less enjoyable and dumbs down the gaming community because kids want something shiny.

Generally yes. Content viewed on TV typically is mind numbing.

Is reading a book a waste of time?Denji

Depends on the book.

Is riding your bike a waste of time?

Not when the health benifits are considered.

Absolutely, that's why I post here. It's how I get through the day faster.

You obviously didn't like the game that much did you?

Do you want a sticker every time you finish a level?

Good post, you hit the nail on the head. I have been gamming for about 20 years, and Trophies were never needed fot the greatest games I have played over the years. Like my previous post mentions, trophies are a waste of time, plain and simple, unless you get something out of it.

I agree. I don't see the point of getting trophies unless it gives us something for the game like a weapon, item, costume, etc.

Playing videogames just for trophies is indeed a waste of time. But playing for the story is not because you get something in return.
