Hooray for boobies!
Seriously if you find it offensive DONT FREAKIN PLAY IT, particularly since it has a WARNING because of the ADULT content. Holy sweet mary mother of jesus christ I swear I dont know how some people even manage to post a somewhat coherent message on the internet.
EDIT: OH I see this question was for "christians". Clearly I don't belong here. Good day.
no i didnt mean the boobies or anything i meant going to hell and seeing the angel of death which comes and takes our souls WHICH YOU KILL HIM...or i didn't pay attention to what were they talking about lolHooray for boobies!

It's not worse than Shin Megami Tensei or Silent Hill with it's religious themes. Silent-Halwhat about those?(didnt play them)
I did however find it to be too obvious of a reskinned GoW.emitsu97I'm already getting sick of hearing this.
[QUOTE="Silent-Hal"]It's not worse than Shin Megami Tensei or Silent Hill with it's religious themes. Dante_May_Diewhat about those?(didnt play them) SMT has you summoning demons, and in certain games, collaborating with Lucifer and/or fighting against God. Silent Hill mainly features an old cult wishing to resurrect the "old gods" of the town, with Christian angels Samael and Metatron both having great significance. Both can be seen as being fairly blasphemous.

Both can be seen as being fairly blasphemous. Of course anything that draws attention from The Lord is considered blasphemy. So if one were to take this literal than recreation in general is viewed as an irreverence to The Faith. So playing video games is a sin to begin with, and then to add insult to injury let's play a game that is nothing but a reference to religion.
[QUOTE="emitsu97"] I did however find it to be too obvious of a reskinned GoW.N-FonRonsenburgI'm already getting sick of hearing this. I owned and beat GoW, GoW 2, GoW:CO, played the GoW3 demo, just replayed and beat GoW from GoW:C and took a break from Dragon Age: Origins to try the Dante's Inferno demo. I enjoyed it, and will buy it, but like I said, it's a reskinned GoW. The only differences I saw were the slightly quicker combat, the upgrade skill tree and the option of how to dispatch held enemies and it's effects on available skills.
Please! Christians are going to be the first to criticize it and take it to The Supreme Courts to have it outlawed for blasphemy.Does it seriously matter if its offensive to christians? They're unlikely to play it anyway.

Good point.....but thre r going to be many christian gamers who wont give a damn if the Holy Cross is used as a weapon or not.....anyway the cross in the game looks pretty heavy...it would surely crack some skulls if used as a weapon..:|
im christian and I havnt played it yet, demo was only released in america and im too lazy to make another psn. It looks a bit freaky to me, but I don't think its because of religion, I just dont really play horror style games or anything that gross. (again not because of religion, just because i'm a wuss) Dante's really intrigues me though, I will definitly see if i like the demo.

Or maybe offending?!

Hi Kate!
It's more an action, hack'n slash ("Ã la GOW")than a horror game! Ittakes place inthe nine circles of hell (based upon Dante Alighieri's "Divine Comedy)!
If you like the dark atmosphere of Demon's Souls, it should be all right for you (yes there's mildsexual content in the circle of luxury, but, come on, it's no porn...)! ;)

The term you both are looking for is 'offensive'.Terrible things happened in the crusades under the banner of justice, and holyness. I did not find anything of the game offensive as far as that concerns. It would be like saying that when Columbus discovered America they brought happiness to the indians.

yeah I loved demon's souls, it wasnt very gross, 3-2 did freak me out though, gargoyles scare the crap out of me for some reason.
I'm not Christian, but I fail to see why any Christians would be 'offencing' by a game that embraces their perspective whole-hog. It's probably one of the most Christian-friendly games I can think of, actually. donalbane
Well once again the point of "playing God" comes to mind because Danté has the ability to condemn or absolve his foes, and an act as such is viewed as blasphemous regardless of medium. The game is vulgar, gory, violent, and obscene so no - - it's far from being "Christian friendly".
[QUOTE="M0wen10"]Please! Christians are going to be the first to criticize it and take it to The Supreme Courts to have it outlawed for blasphemy. Blasphemy is not against the law in the United States, and it never will be. Separation of Church and State, one of the things that makes America awesome. I find it offensive because, with all due respect to those who like it, it really is just a reskinned God of War. I mean, literally. You could stick Kratos in there over Dante as he's fighting, and be hard pressed to tell the difference. It's blatantly obvious.Does it seriously matter if its offensive to christians? They're unlikely to play it anyway.

^thisI haven't played it. You realize the Inferno was written to be very insulting to the catholic church at the time it was written. I'm more offended at the sheer butchery the game does to a great literary classic.
Darthmatt
Yeah, because they'll make a game based EXACTLY on a poem. That's gonna be a deep, deep game with lots of depth, huh? Anyway, Dantes Inferno, although a rip-off, is excellent.I haven't played it. [QUOTE="emitsu97"] I did however find it to be too obvious of a reskinned GoW.N-FonRonsenburgI'm already getting sick of hearing this. But it's true.
The only thing that offended me was the way this game directly stole just about everything from GoW.
This was like GoW 2.5 or something.
