I'll wait and see if it gets a somewhat decent review then go out and get it if it does. I'm a big fan of the second one and can't wait for that one to come out.
I have played through and beaten the Japanese version of this game, and it is amazing. Albeit, this was the first role playing game I ever played way back in the 80's when it was released, so there is quite a bit of nostalgia for me. Regardless, this is no gimmicky remake. Squeenix pulled out all the stops for this one...a complete cosmetic overhaul. New high resolution graphics for every aspect of the game, including magic spells and character sprites. The only complaint I have is that you can save anywhere at anytime in the game, so the difficulty has been lessened somewhat. Go buy this game if you played the original, it will not disappoint.
I already have ff anniversary and ff II anniversary thanks to the psp being region free and thanks to the japanese version of both games having an English language option.
