Im just disgusted by those Day 1 DLC's, or the ones where you gotta pay extra just to play online.

A very small minority are released with dlc that should have been on the disc but most actually expand on the game. Is that such a bad thing?

I hate especially when they announce DLC's even before the game is out! or when the game's out for only 2 weeks or a month like Assassin's Creed 2

It all depends on the nature of the DLC. Though IMO they all tend to be overpriced compared to what you already get with the game.

Well you've got the gta 4 ( not on the ps3 I know) expansions, the fallout 3 ones, cod waw map packs and the new borderlands expansion. To name a few.

But wouldn't you rather have that content for free plus a better polished game if they spent another month on it? Developers can dish out content once the main game is out - they have the resources, software and engine down to an art. If they wanted, they could spend 2-3 months extra to what they were going to do and add multiplayer maps etc

the only DLC i pick up is the free stuff. i can't stand overpaying for something that should've been included with the game (capcom i'm looking at you) several games have some pretty good free DLC though (cross edge for starters)

Well has long as you are going to buy those game (like codMW2) they are going to keep on making them short and sell them 70$. soon all we are going to have is an engine, you are going to have to buy each level and ammo !!!

I don't mind buying DLC for "the big ones" but it seems like every game is peddling there crappy DLC right after launch. GTA4 is a good example of DLC done right. I have both of the episodes and they really add a lot to that game.

Most people get appalled by such a policy and i know many, myself included, who will not buy such games, especially if they are "big games" and they will wait for the "proper" release. i might have bought Dragon Age, but when i saw the DLC i said nope. :) When they start having crap release figures, they will stop. But i am not against expanding the game if it does remarkably well.

This is a capitalist society, unfortunately. Profits > People.

Do what I do and get the GOTY editions.

I don't even pay attention to it. If I really, REALLY like a game, I may check out the DLC. I think my total is about $4 spent on DLC.
