PS3 is reliable.... Their failure rate is pretty low. Of you getting a defective unit is like 1 in a million.

The defective rate of PS3 console s barely non existent. It's a very reliable system.

As for Assassin's Creed, that has nothing to do with a console, but the game itself and how it was developed. In this case, it has some bugs like freezing, console has nothing to do with it..

My PS3 stopped reading discs but Sony replaced it for me. I've read of some PS3s breaking, but it's not enough to make me want to jump ship by any means.

it was 1%, plus anyone who did have theres break of no fault of their own (except for that stupid kid with the super dusty PS3) usually got it fixed or a new one within a week.

In the unlikelihood that your PS3 has a complete meltdown, don't the vast majority of users purchase an extended warranty? I got my PS3 at my local Best Buy along with their PSP for two years. After that period of time, I get the option to renew again. All in all, if I ever do have an issue, I can get a new PS3 in no time. Personally, I figure that if you make an entertainment investment of this caliber, it is only logical to protect yourself with an extended warranty.

After installing update 2.00 my PS3 became very laggy and froze everytime I entered an option. I solved it though buy going into Settings, it froze for 5 mins, then to System Settings, it froze for another 5, until I got to Restore Defeault Settings then it was fine.

I've had mine since the day it came out, and play everyday, no freezes or problems so far... (although I don't have AC or Warhawk).... surposedly this last update that came outday fixed some of the problems with freezes in AC....
