Just went to the store to pick up some paint for my ps3 controller. Just wondering if anyone else here has painted any controllers. If so any tips? Also show some pics :P

I've never thought about doing that, What do you use? I could honestly see myself plasti dipping my controller white lol.Tetrarch9I just picked up some Krylon Fusion for Plastic spraypaint Along with some Clear Coat at my local Walmart. I also ordered a set of white buttons on ebay last night. I should be finished within the next couple of days. There are tons of cool designs on google, more so for Xbox controllers, but painting a PS3 controller is basically the same. I'm also going to be changing the red led's to blue :P Can't wait to see how it turns out. I will post pics when im done.

i'd expect it'd be tough to do without it getting sticky. but what do i know? :Pstarwarsjunky
I'm really hoping it still has a solid feel to it, which I think it will since everybody online I have seen who has painted a controller seems to really like it.Â
I would suggest using some paint on something small and random first to see if you like the feel of it. I haven't painted any controllers but I have painted paintball equipment and the type of paint can really make a difference in the feel. Good luck with the project.I'm really hoping it still has a solid feel to it, which I think it will since everybody online I have seen who has painted a controller seems to really like it.Â

I never painted a controller but I painted my ps3 sharpshooter. I just didn't like the original look of the sharpshooter gun. Sand, adhesion promoter, prime, paint (i used krylon fusion) and put on clear coat (krylon fusion matte) as well. The paint holds up very well.

I almost decided to go ahead & paint mine when I took my controller apart to fix the left joystick, but I just wanted to get the thing back together & start playing again.:P
Â
I'd be too scared to paint a controller in case I dropped it in the tin or something stupid like that. I would kill for an official transparent controller though. Back in the 90's everything seemed to have a transparent case (I had a Game Boy that had a clear casing) so I think it should make a comeback. :)MonoSilver
Â
Just a heads up, Target actually sells an official transparent red controller.

I live in the UK and they don't ship internationally so not much use I'm afraid. Plus I was being maybe a bit optimistic and hoping for clear plastic, not coloured. I live in the UK and they don't ship internationally so not much use I'm afraid. MonoSilverYou can buy transparent shells all over the internet and a PS3 controller is super easy to take apart and put back together.
That does look cool.Well finally got it all painted up and the splatter done. Just waiting for the buttons to arrive, cant wait!
