I have two "phats" and together they rain supreme over any of the new models i see no reason to upgrade, plus i hate the new silver and off white colors. Why not something interesting? like the good old emerald ps2 controllers? -sigh- ....Sony... they are really startin to piss me off
yeah, i got my phat... 2gb mem card... Disgaia was my biggest addiction last year... Aside from beating my at-the-time-girlfriend's hi score in lumines... I just wish it could do s-video or component out... that would be sweet...
question for anyone who has had both: what improvements have been made from 1000 to 3000? i used to have a 1000 (or as you guys call it, a phat) and i traded it in because playing on it became unbearable due to **** speakers, glare, scratches, dust under the screen, low brightness, weird shape (it hurt my hands after a long playing session), load times, and **** battery life. i might get a new one if enough improvements have been made.

Basically, they added support for the camera... an official TV-OUT ... more internal memory ... Skype ... a more "colorful" screen which in reality made the picture worse in some cases... i think that about covers it...

is there less glare though? and have they done anything about the dust under the screen problem?
Upgraded recently to a deep red psp slim, sorry phat users the D-pad is way better, and it was mainly why I bought it PSP-3000 was anounced like a moth after I got it, but I'm very happy with it, I wouldn't change it for anything (maybe an ice silver slim but neeh)
I still have a phat. I see no reason to upgrade...the psp is kinda a lost cause.
Now i only use it when I go on trips. Put a couple movies on it, download a couple games...
the games are whats killin it...it has such a **** collection. Although Tekken dark resurrection and wipeout still give me a lil fun when your driveing a couple hundred miles.
Now that I've gotten a new mp3 player, I really have no use for it. . . That and it died. I may get a 3000 and God of War or something, not sure yet. Need a job first.
I have a phat, I considered upgrading because of the better UMD door but figured that really wasn't worth the price of upgrading. Does the 3000 still have this supposed interlacing problem?
I have a phat one with a broken R trigger. I use it in my bedroom for the Internet Radio, I just keep it hooked to a boom box that supports Line In. I carry a slim now for day to day.
imo the phat model is the best model to own. tho ppl complain bout its weight, it feels just right in my hands. i've dropped it countless tyms and til this day, it works perfectly. the new slim models feels really cheap to me and the umd tray sux in comparison. rockin phat all the way (though i havent touched it in months.)
Theres no reason not to be still using the phat. What defines a console? Its games. Not a microphone or a slightly superior screen. Is it playing the same games? Yes. So yeah, no reason for me to upgrade.
I bounce back and forth between my slim and my phat for obvious reasons, one has certain "programs and extra's" ...*wink wink* that my slim does not have.
In fact I am still usind my Phat and today on the bus (while I was playng) a guy sat next to me and pulled out from his pocket...are you ready...another phat.And he las all like "Cool we should do some multyplayer"

1000 users, remember > if you're screen gets too scratched over the years, thats like a $12 fix (just be sure to do the labor in a steemy bathroom, so there's no dust under the screen cover). I'f you look around, the official replacement faceplates are available. Luckly, I keep mine in perfect condition, but I'm thinking of getting a spare replacement of two for future use, and possibly an official stamina battery. Although I may pick up a 3000 one day for TV connectivity or whatever else, I will always regard my 1000 as mt primary PSP.
I'm also still on original phat myself. I did wanted to upgrade but I didn't really found any significant improvements aside from better D-pad on 3000 model, or so I heard it's better.
However even 169$ is still a little pricey for me and I'm waiting for black psp 3000. I don't like any other colors + my black psp complements the ps3 ;)
