I'm curious to see how the first game is going to run on ps3. If anyone picks it up i would be interested to know.
p.s lets see how long it takes for someone to bring up 3's ending.

that would be typical.. Almost a given actuallyI'm definitely buying at least Mass Effect 1. I just have a feeling EA will release some super ultimate edition in a year or so with every game's DLC on it.

Doesnt the NA store usually update around 6 or 7 eastern time?

Around that time yeah and I'm also waiting on it. I already own ME 2 and 3 so I'm only interested in original Mass Effect which I believe will be around 15$. I consider that a steal for the hours and enjoyment it will offer to RPG fans.
Originally, I purchased the PC version for 60$ and it even today I would still play the full price for it. I' wouldn't be concern of the game running poorly, ME 2 and 3 are great on PS3.
I'll be getting the first game. Kind of bummed they didn't release the first one to begin with. Oh well, I enjoyed 2 & 3, but I'm not sure if I will gain much from playing the first game. Not sure if I want to put forth the time to play through the 2 games again, though I do plan on an Insanity playthrough on ME3 sometime.SoNin360If you are looking for a real challenge, insanity on ME3 might disappoint you

I beat ME2 on Insanity and was a bit surprised at how easy it was with the right set-up. I heard it was really difficult but it didn't really turn out to be the case. Still had some challenging moments and was an enjoyable playthrough. I'm sure I'll enjoy ME3 on Insanity about the same.
Have it ordered from amazon. Someone was posting on the ign boards and said that the framerate was much better, the textures loaded faster heavily reducing the pop in. He said it looked clean so alaising is not a problem, and that otherwise everything else is the same.
I love Mass Effect, I'm getting the trilogy on the PS3 to play again and get all the trophies. It's kinda sad that I will actually own a copy of the game on PC, 360 and PS3. My excuse for the PS3 is that I have lost all faith in the 360 being able to actually work for more than a month, and have lost all interest in playing games on it in fear that it's just going to stop working again. ME is best for me sitting on the couch with a gamepad.

Honestly I'm not sure, because I've never really been waiting on it to update before. Typically I might check it once a week on Thursday or Friday to see what's new, or to pick up any DLC I'm interested in. This is the first time I've really been anticipating grabbing something the moment it shows up on there. But yeah, it was a bit after 5 PM here (Central Time) when it updated.
I'm getting it, I can finally get the whole trilogy on Ps3. Like some I got ME1 for my xbox and 2 and 3 for Ps3.
did they release the first one seperately yet? i don't wanna buy the whole trilogy since i already played the other 2.
To answer TC's question, the original Mass Effect runs fine on PS3. I owned the whole trilogy on the 360, and it was honestly the only reason I kept that system around. So I was really happy once I heard the original was making its way to PS3. Some of the load times seem a bit longer on the PS3 compared to the 360, like when your starting up the game it takes maybe 10 seconds or so longer to load to the main menu. And the only other difference I noticed is when the game Auto Saves (brings up a disc on screen and says its saving data) on the 360 version you could actually continue on and move around, although the frame rate kinda got choppy, whereas the ps3 verison you cant move at all and just have to wait until it finishes auto saving.
Other than that It seems like they look the same and performs easily on par with the 360 version.

The first one is available on the PS Store for $15. I doubt they'd sell it as a stand alone disk in stores though.did they release the first one seperately yet? i don't wanna buy the whole trilogy since i already played the other 2.

I played the entire trilogy on the 360 but would like to run thru it on the PS3, however, does anyone know how the game saves have been handled? It wouldn't be worth it if ME2 doesn't read your ME1 save and so on.
It's definitely going to support a file transfer. There might be a patch shortly.I played the entire trilogy on the 360 but would like to run thru it on the PS3, however, does anyone know how the game saves have been handled? It wouldn't be worth it if ME2 doesn't read your ME1 save and so on.

Disappointing that they dressed this collection up the way they did and didn't bother to incorporate the import-save option on the disc . . . maybe I'll pass. Not sure I want to constantly clean out my inventory(ME 1) or mine planets anymore(ME2) anyways.
hey for anyone that has downloaded the first mass effect. how large a file is it and how long did it take you to download?

Since I already have ME2 and ME3 I downloaded ME1 from PSN store, the file size is 7.00GB and on my connection which is 18MB on average, it took around 50 minutes to download.
So I have had my copy now and so far it's all good. The frame rate is better so far, but the dialog for a random sentance doesn't sync up correctly, or sometimes that line of dialog just wont play at all. Not to big of deal if you turn on subtitles (which I honestly do anyway because for some reason I have such a hard time hearing people talk in games/movies.it's not just me though, for the last several years my friends, roomates and my fiance all have this problem no matter what TV it is
Secondly, the load times are a bit longer, but it's not that bad. And I haven't had any problem with texture pop ins, it's much better than what the 360 version was.
I'm mainly glad I can now play the game on a platform that I can be pretty sure won't die on me in a few months.
well i downloaded mass effect 1 off psn and have been enjoying it so far. driving around and exploring planets seems more of a chore to me though. this one is much more of an rpg than the others, i chose infiltrator class and found myself dying a lot so far and i'm playing normal. i got the hang of it now though but i definately never had this much trouble in the other mass effect games. makes me wanna replay 2.
i did notice framerate issues occasionally but nothing too bad. oh and the game has frozen on me like 3 times in a span of 20 hours of gameplay.
