This is what I do for my 360 and I think most games look great to me. I plan on getting the PS3 Component cables (just got my PS3) because its the best I can do right now. I have a 27 inch Panasonic flat screen component input TV. I DLed the Resistance demo....and I thought it looked Horrible (in terms of comparing to Motorstorm and Gears on my 360 for component) but afterall Im simply using the out of box composite cables, so I hope the component jump helps Resistance's visuals because Im not too impressed.
I am using component cables on my SDTV. it is a 27in Sanyo. I was like u when I bought my Ps3 and resistance except I was using an Svideo cable from my ps2. I ordered component and the difference is huge even on an on an SDTV. Colors are so much better and things are a lot sharper. If u find the perfect TV settings u are in heaven. Make sure the components u get are the gold plated ones. Gold plated are tons better quality.

The color, contrast, brightness, and sharpness. If u find the right combination u are in heaven of gaming.
Thanks for the responses guys. I just couldnt believe how plain the graphics were on the Resistance demo. I mean the demo cant be much diff. from the retail game because its a launch game right? Gears of War looks fantastic on my 360 using component.

Perfect. That is the exact ones i got except I got them off amazon. I had 3-5 days shippings and recieved them the next days. I love amazon now.

This now brings me to another question though: My TV only has 1 set of component input, so now that Im getting these for PS3, ill have to go behind my TV every time and switch EVERY single cable. So Im looking for a good system selector that has component cable input. My current one was a Pelican and S Video/Composite only and its pretty much only being used for the PS3 now...so its very primitive.

Resistance is a nice looking game but its more about the gameplay with that game. And of course hdmi is the way to go, component cables arent gonna give you the best visuals.
Since the first DVD player I haven't used anything less than S-video for SD, and Component on my last SD tv, using composite on DVD when it came out was considered a was of money. Obviously then the players were $300+ when it got cheaper and $1500 on launch. With $25 players people can care less what their picture quality looks like.
Same goes with the PS3 on a SD tv, Component will make a nice difference over composite, Sharper image, less noise, better color, and no color bleading. My last 32inch SD flat front Sharp has a widescreen mode where it actually focused the lines into the 16:9 shape to make it bright and more solid looking, compared to wasting lines by drawing the blacks on the 4:3 tv. That and pair with a nice DVD player with component was razer sharp looking.

Ohh, Ok, your right. I read 27" flatscreen tv and assumed hdtv.
