Anyone think mgs4 looks bland and boring, but are still excited for the game because it will be EPIC? Every video i have watched looks kind of generic, but since they are putting so much time/money into the game, it has to be good, right?
Not just the putting time and money into it... its a stable franchise now and people don't wanna see much change plus it really is about the story telling rather the graphics with metal gear.
This game is going to do what halo did for the xbox, I have no doubt that after a slow start this will bring playstation right back up there metal gear is certainly gonna be the game to get things going for sony.
I agree with you. It didn't look like anything special to me. But because of it's name, it will do good. Kinda like halo 3 I suppose. But all in all, I'll probalby get it because I haven't played anything on my ps3 in over 6 months.
Bland and boring? Impossible. It's a MGS game. It only looks "bland" because of the setting, and by that measure MGS and MGS2 are "bland and boring". MSG3 was great with the jungle setting, but it doesn't matter where it is, because the core gameplay and characters of MGS are so perfect it doesn't matter how the game looks. If I had to pick one game series to play for the rest of my life, I'd choose this one. Thank you Hideo Kojima for this, and past and future masterpieces in the series.
it depends on what kind of games you like. if you like run and gun style games you may not like it. if you like tactical games where you actually have to think and plan out your actions along with a GREAT story line than it is your type of game.

I hate it when people judge a game by it's graphics, that's not the point of the game it's the gameplay and if what i truly love about MGS is snappin some necks stealthily then whippin out a rifle and blowing some sucker's brains out then Bring on the Metal Gear. usually what they show in the Trailers is nothin compared to the actual finished game also I think the graphics look pretty damn sick i wouldn't say they're the best ever but i could care less. Considering that Hideo Kojima has never failed with a MGS after 3 titles, I think he has what it takes. At worst, MGS4 maybe wouldn't live to the hype, but it would still be a great game, better than most games out there, which is true for any MGS.
Everyone keeps saying that it looks bland, but what you are forgetting is that Konami has really only released screenshots from one or two areas of the game. There will be a great variety of environments to play in from what I've read. I think it looks awesome and I can't wait to get it. Gonna pre-order soon.

How does "bland", "boring" and "EPIC" fit on the same sentence? You have contradicted yourself so inappropriately. I think the game look fantastic. MGS4 is not about running and shooting; its about strategy and patience. That will be the best way to enjoy the game.
Keep in mind, everyone, that the game doesn't take place in just the "middle east" setting. I can't recall the specifics of the other areas you get to play in, but I know there's more than what's been shown thus far. And if you watch the latest trailer you can see that Snake and Liquid end up at what looks like Shadow Moses from MGS1. That personally has me pretty excited as I loved the locale of MGS1.

So what are you trying to say the PS3 will have no games after MGS4 just like the original xbox did with halo. Haha jk should be great though the 3rd 1 confused me a bit since it was set in the 60s but can't say anymore than that since i would spoil some stuff if i did.
the metal gears have always had something that makes them stand out be it graphics, stoy, or just plain innovation. if you think this game looks boring and bland then probably its time for you to move on to other more "interesting" games... btw i preordered this baby... oh n i think this game will bring me an orgasmic feeling *blushes*
Jesus christ, just stfu if you dont know anythinga bout this series. Its a stealth game, no some generic shooter.
The game is epic, in its own way, like this games allways have been, with great boss battles epic and deep story line and even the sneaking gameplay looks fantastic.
And there are huge changes of this game to any other in the series. If you knew what you were talking about you would know that.

It should be outstanding, once we actually get to explore the entire world and try out all of the new gameplay mechanics. Everything should tie together nicely. Plus, the story and cutscenes will probably be stuck in our minds long after weve beaten the game, like in prevous installments. MGS has always been about the whole "Experience", delivering something that goes beyond the game itself. It's gonna be deep.
