During the winter my room will usually get pretty cold so what ive been doing for more than a year has been to turn on Folding @ Home and put a timer on and usually in a couple hours my room is atleast a few degrees warmer. I have a 60gig in a somewhat enclosed area so it recycles some of the heated air over and makes that air warmer.

Usually ill have it turn off by about the time i plan to wake up and i would also sometimes play my music on there and put my tv on sleep. Usually when the temp outside gets to like 20 or below i end up turning it on and in the morning im not as afraid to get out from under the covers lol. Obviously during summer though i pretty much never do the folding because then my room is usually the warmest.

I was just wondering how many other people do the same thing or will start doing the same lol.

Hell no.

I would have to be in a pretty cramped spaced to "heat it" via PS3. But even so, I wouldn't use it in that manner.

You know you can get an area heater for like 20 bucks at Walmart, right? I mean, if you're going to be folding anyways, ok, but there are much better and cheaper ways of keeping warm.

That would be my only worry but so far, knock on wood, i havent had any problems. I know there have been people that run thier PS3's 24/7 for months without problem, so hopefully my 6hrs or so wouldnt be one.

My room gets pretty hot when my PS3 is on so that comes in pretty handy during the winter... During the summer months, not so much :(

PS3 couldn't heat my room if I lived in Miami. You cold-natured crazies need to go to walmart and get yourself one of those nice, cheap SunBeam ceramic heaters. Geez.

My room cooks in the summertime so I couldn't imagine having a PS3 on during that time of the year. I'd opt to play it at night time when temps drop.

You can get a new receptacle for about $1.

I don't and that definitely is not a good idea. I would save up and get a space heater instead of a game next time.

I use it to heat up my bedroom yes along with my HDTV because it gets damn cold. I don't see the problem with it either. PS3 is built to be used for the long periods of time. People leave their PS3's on constantly for stuff like folding@Home. I still have my launch 60GB, it works wonders.
