Anyone knows if the 360 has some kind of black magic on it to play arcade games? I know 360 has Live Arcade, but does it has some kind of function other than been a place to put arcade games? I ask this because i want to know why 360 gets so many arcade games and PS3 doesn't

360 has 100's of awesome classics...100's,,,Even the freaking wii has 100's now

Sony Online Entertainment started strong the 1st 6 months of the release with Joust, rampart, MK2, Qbert, and some others. But after that SOE had been a mystery.

Bottom line we should be getting atleast 5 new ps1 or arcade titles a week.

Ecco the dolphin

battle toads

whatever

Cant say because the 360 is not free online because the wii is free as well.

Bionic commando and 1942 were fun and should show a push for many more remakes in Hd. Some people just grew up on certain games that they would buy no matter what

Yeah i did, i bought bionic commando, 1942, prince of persia, mega man 9 and i'm waiting for Super Street Fighter Turbo HD Remix. I love oldschool gaming. However, i still don't know a real reason of why arcade games are just released on Xbox Live Arcade. I've checked releases, thanks god there doesn't seem to be any really good one, but once games like TMNT Turtles in Time are released, i will start to worry

Before the PS3's launch, I've seen many videos about Phil Harrison yapping about PSN getting classics and arcade games. We're almost into year two of the cycle. Where is all of this stuff?

Microsoft has their hands in a lot of things though. It is possible minus the politics, BS and red tape. I mean seriously, who in the hell plays QBert anymore? Hell, I don't even remember people liking it when I was a kid. 4 or 5 games from 1982 just isn't going to cut it.

This is one of the big reasons why I would buy a Wii if I had the $$$. I grew up in the 8 and 16-bit eras and those game will never die.

Street Fighter HD Remix seems like a future "Udon bit off more than it can chew" article headline. I love Street Fighter, but seriously. The core game has been weaked and messed with. It went through 3 delays and they're altering almost everything even though they've stated "nothing would be changed but the graphics". With Street Fighter 4 coming out in Q1 '09 (last I've heard), I feel this game has lost it's edge. Themselves and SF4 completely crushed this game for me.

The PS3 definitely needs more PSOne classics.
I missed out on a lot of good stuff (especially RPGs) in those days.

Off-topic, but does anyone know when Sony plans to launch their dev/publisher-specific store-fronts? Like the Capcom one for instance?

PSN sucks, they only very rarely let you play demo's of the games it want you to buy without knowing anything about, they need to get their act together but i doubt they will knowing sony

Probably also has to do with the fact that Sony's SDK for getting stuff out to ps3 is simply not as friendly about such things like the 360 and Wii SDK's are. Well, actually, Sony has classically had the worst SDK's to work for; worse than the red-headed step-child of an SDK Nintendo had for the n64. The reason they got away with it though was because there was such a user base for the PlayStation that it made it (corporately) worthwhile to struggle through it and find shortcuts for stuff to make things easier. That's what eventually brought us a working software z-buffer on PS1 games and AA for PS2 games. That and Sony doesn't like things that don't "push technology". This fact is pretty well known among developers. They were almost going to nuke Katamari Damacy at the conceptual stage, but those guys managed to provide beyond a shadow of doubt that the game was going to be fun. But when it came to making a next-gen Katamari, Microsoft was there first to embrace it over Sony, and thus why it came to 360 instead of PS3. Sony doesn't come around to help unless your game takes advantage of x number of technological features on their console or their products. Microsoft just cares that you have something with potential to be really good. And depending on how good, they will even source some of their coders out on their dime to assist in your projects (which has even happened for some Live Arcade titles).
