Um nope.. Â Wii U is failing for various reasons and hardware based consoles dying out isn't one of them. Â For one;
- Non-gamer casuals such as teh grannies, the grandads, the soccer moms, Â and basically every game/tech-shy person out there are not jumping onboard this time like they where with the Wii. Â Nintendo have come to the realization that these types of gamers don't buy new consoles every 5-10 years and are really not in it for the long haul like core gamers are. Â Now they basically have nothing left but to rely on the hardcore Nintendo fanbase. Â Not good. Â Microsoft is also trying to play catch up with the Wii with all these Kinect games but they will soon come to the same realization.Â
- The Wii U name is a marketing disaster. Â Whilst core gamers would be able to tell the difference. Â A casual however would percieve this title as mere extension to the Wii. Â In other words, Â the Wii U is just a Wii with a new controller. Â Â
- Lack of games. Â Obvious one but it's the truth and probably the strongest reason at this point why it's not selling very well.Â
- The price.. Â People are asking for a price drop already? Â LOL. Â Nintendo might just be forced into it. Â Worked for the 3DS..
- Lack of an achievement/trophy system? Â Some people might say this is completely stupid but believe it or not some people like those things. Â Like them enough to even base their entire game purchase on whether they are actually in the game or not. Â Very minor issue but still Nintendo needs to get with the times and add features that people want.Â
So there you have it. Â Wii U was destined to fail because of poor decision making on Nintendo's part. Â Â This does seem like a very system war-ish post but then again it is relevent to the topic.Â
