lol,
Yea if you want to play, it up to you to decide that. If you want to play at a high level, then thats your choice to "well kinda?"
Well they cost a lot to make and they last you longer than a night out on the town where you'll probably spend a lot more so I think games are worth it.
What is not worth it is DLC that costs 1/4 of the game for a few maps.

Yea the typical person does not see it that way thow. They go into Wal Mart and blow 200 on usless stuff, every weekend. And then worry about a game price that may be worth something.
And yea going out to clubs, can easily go to 3 digits a night.
Well, just be happy that most games don't cost the same amount of money like Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero: World Tour.zeriva
agreed
I only buy the games that I want really bad for $60. I buy the majority of my games for $20 or $30. I'm currently playing Assassin's Creed, which I bought at a pawn shop for $10. :P
Games are not expensive at all in america. You people who say that are so cheap. games in Barbados cost $240 dollars and I hardly complain. Games are worth it because they have so much to offer. so much more than a dvd of the same price.Androvinus
You have $240 DVD's?

^ that
Gaming is pretty expensive-legally. Each new game costs $60. Even if you do a lot of bargain shopping, games can be pretty costly.
Do you gamers think that it is fair? And is the entertainment really worth that much?PocketSled
Yes, definitely worth it and yes, it is fair. Think how much time you spend on a game. Of course, it is like everything else...you should be informed about what you are buying. If you read reviews, hear opinions, and then spend $60 to buy the game, it will be worth it. If you spend $60 on any random game and it turns out being awful (usually adaptations of movies :) ), then that is a waste of money...but that is your fault for not doing the research.
Of course, do the research and buy good games...that's the only way customers can send a "message" to game publishers that bad games won't be purchased...
PS: A lot of people earn a living through these games. It isn't just a "company", but lots of staff from programmers, to advertising department...even the payrool/accounting department of the company. Try to picture the people that work at the company, rather than the company...
i've always felt that game prices were fair, even when i was little and my parents complained about a 50 dollar game. I'm not the type of person who plays a game, beats it and never touches it again. For me, I spend money on games i really enjoy. Yea, I just dropped 120 dollars on two games(not to mention the gas i spent traveling for my base to the town thats 30 minutes away), but i know, even in 2 or 3 years from now, i may look at that game and go "hmm, i'd love to play that again". hell, about a year ago i started playing FF9, i even still own the orginal tony hawk pro skater, not sure if that one works however.thanos723
These days you probably spend more getting their, than buying the game then lol. "Well almost"

Games in 1985 were $50.
Games have increased $10 in 20 years. Why don't you complain about gas prices when they have risen $1 in a year.

totally agree with you there
i got into non sports/wrestling games these last 8 yrs but i dont think these games are worth over $19.99 price tag.
Love God Of War series but let me know when the it gets the $19.99 price point.
PSP107
you're kidding me right?
Ok first of all, game aren't always 60.00$ or 70.00$... half of the game i own are from the PSN (and those are cheap) and the rest of it are used games from Ebay or like Gamestop..
Second of all... if you think 60$ is expensive then you're a f'n cheap bastard! C'mon any redneck working at Walmart makes that in ONE day...
One day to get a game that more than hundreds of people works their ass off... MONTHS! and MONTHS!... it is worth it!
I'll tell you expensive stuff.... 7.1 Wireless TV speakers... that ain't your lil 60.00$
Yea they sure do cost a lot. Sometimes not even worth it, many games are getting really shorter and have very few replay value to it. But the blu ray disk themselves do last a very long time.
But that's why we have a great selection of games in the ps store.

I think that games are in fact getting longer... and there's a LOT more games with replay value now than before... ONLINE ANYONE..?? NES, SNES times had way more crappy games than today... WAY WAY WAY MORE! And i'm not even talking about the PS1 and N64 days.....
I think what you're saying is WRONG..

there's not very many modern games that i forsee anyone playing 5-10-20 years from now tho. people will always go back and play mario. goldeneye is a classic for n64, for pc diablo, starcraft, morrowind, and i guess wow for some(not me lol). for the modern consoles i can think of none offhand but then again i havn't played all that many either.
i mean games like msg4 were awsome, but just that once or twice going through it. and i think it was partly designed that way, not so much for replay just one great experience. but msg4 was one of the few modern games worth it, infact its only 1 of 2 games ive bought.
and thats kind of the stigma i get from all the modern games, they really don't have much replay value to myself...i keep coming back to it but man the mario series is so addicting....
yah a bag of marbles = $5
a basketball= $15
a gf = priceless
so i guess there's better options out there, but i soppose gaming as one distinct advantage in that you don't have to chase it down a hill
It's simple economics: supply < demand ----> price increases. jk.
I agree that games are expensive, that's why I rarely buy games at full price. But games cost a lot to make, and when compared to other activities (e.g. movies), video games are a great value with hours of gameplay.

I think it's scaled appropriately.
I do, however, have a problem with gas prices increasing 400% in less than 18 months with lower demand and high supply.
Its not like they are pointing a gun at you and saying, PAY OR DIE. Games after all are a optional good. We decide if we have to buy them or not. Kinda like cigarettes for smokers.
Its a hobby, when time passes in this new modern age, prices go up, since as time goes by, human labour is given more value, thus, more cost. Software is not the same as hardware, since it requires constant work. Thus prices are less likely to fall. Especially during the start of a new technology pattern. Also, dont pop up "free games" since those have less value than paid games. Every extra we receive, every voice actor, correct spelling, translation, etc costs money, that money is then reflected on the final price. Basic production material actually.

I agree with this. Dinner plus a trip to the bar or to a show and you have easily blown more than $60. Not just that, but in case you didn't know, many games for the NES back in the 80's cost as much as $80 (sometimes more) for a cartridge full of 8-bit graphics! $60 is a fair price considering the time and effort that goes into making a game, even a bad game. For $60 I can get several nights worth of entertainment, and if I'm willing to have that experience more than once, there is virtually no limit to how far that $60 will go.

I happily plunked down $70 for my brand new copy of FFIII (US) on my SNES.
